Milkshakes made without ice cream are still delicious. If you're out of ice cream or just don't feel like using it, there are a number of ways to keep a delicious milkshake.
Ingredients
Milkshakes in a plastic bag:
- 2 cups (475 ml) milk or cream
- 1 tsp (5 g) sugar
- 12 ice cubes
- A drop of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon (a pinch) salt
- Chocolate syrup or other flavors (optional)
Milkshakes in a blender:
- 12 ice cubes
- 2 cups (475 ml) milk
- 1 tsp (5 g) vanilla extract
- 3/4 c (100 g) Sugar
- Chocolate syrup or other flavors (optional)
Crushed ice milkshake:
- Milk (enough for one glass)
- Syrup or fruit of your choice
- Crushed ice
Step
Method 1 of 3: Milkshakes in a blender
Step 1. Measure out 2 cups (475 ml) milk, 1 tsp (5 g) vanilla extract, and chocolate syrup (if desired)
Place in a blender and beat in the blender for 15-20 seconds. This step will circulate the air.
The thicker the milk you use (2%, for example) the thicker your milkshake will be
Step 2. Put 3/4 cup (100 g) of sugar in a blender
Beat in a blender for 5-10 seconds.
Step 3. Add ice cubes
It would have been better if the ice had been crushed first. Watch it mix – too long it will be too runny.
Step 4. Serve and enjoy
Drink it straight away – it tastes best when it's cold and the ice hasn't melted.
Method 2 of 3: Milkshakes in plastic
Step 1. Take a small plastic and fill it with milk
The plastic must be sealable.
Step 2. Add a teaspoon of sugar to the milk
Stir gently until dissolved.
Step 3. Add a few drops of vanilla extract/essence to the bag
Mix well.
Step 4. Fill half a large plastic bag with ice cubes
The plastic should fit into the smaller, sealable plastic. A sealed 3.8 liter plastic bag is fine to use.
Step 5. Place the milk plastic in the larger plastic
The ice is only for chemical reactions to occur – not for consumption. The ice will remain separate from the milk.
Step 6. Put 1/4 teaspoon salt in a large plastic
This is for the exothermic reaction to occur and an important step for the milk to thicken!
Step 7. Beat for 5-7 minutes, or until thick like a milkshake
Beat vigorously to thicken the milk. If the milshake is still not thick after 7 minutes of beating, shake it for a few more minutes.
Step 8. Open a small plastic and pour it into a glass
Enjoy your milkshake!
Method 3 of 3: Crushed ice milkshake
Step 1. Put the ingredients in a blender
If using fruit, first chop the fruit.
Step 2. Beat in a blender until the ingredients are evenly mixed
Step 3. Add crushed ice
Beat again in the blender until smooth.
Step 4. Pour in a glass
Crushed ice will make the milkshake cold and thick. Delicious!
Tips
- Try adding Oreos for extra flavor.
- You can put a towel on the plastic so that your hands don't get cold while shaking the plastic.
- Shake it outdoors because if the plastic erupts indoors your floor will certainly fall apart.
- Stir in a spoonful of peanut butter for a chocolate peanut butter flavored milkshake.
- Add 1 tbsp instant coffee to make a mocha milkshake.
- Add berries for a delicious smoothie. More berries, more fun!
- Add 1 very ripe banana to make a chocolate banana shake.
- If you have diabetes, use artificial sweeteners.
- You can shake the plastic together because it can be tiring.
- Cook the solution until it thickens, then cool again.
Warning
- The milkshakes in this article are cold, but not as thick as other milkshakes.
- Do not add too much vanilla extract/essence to avoid bitter taste.
