This wikiHow teaches you how to find a website's IP address. You can find them using the computer's built-in route tracker function (" traceroute "), or by downloading and using a free route tracker app on your iPhone or Android device.
Step
Method 1 of 4: For Windows
Step 1. Open the Start menu
Click the Windows logo in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Step 2. Type command prompt into the Start menu
After that, the computer will search for the Command Prompt program.
Step 3. Click
"Command Prompt".
It's at the top of the Start menu window. Once clicked, the Command Prompt program will be opened.
Step 4. Enter the command " Traceroute " for the desired website
Type in tracert and enter a space, then type in the address of the desired website (without the "www." section).
- To find Google's IP address, for example, type tracert google.com into the Command Prompt window.
- Make sure you enter the correct website extension (eg ".com" or ".net").
- There must be a space between the tracert command and the website name.
Step 5. Press Enter key
After that, the command will be executed.
Step 6. Take note of the website address
Next to the " Tracing route to [website] " text line that appears, you can see the address in parentheses. The address is the IP address of the website in question.
For example, if you're using Google as your sample website, you might see the text line " Tracing route to google.com [216.58.193.78] " in the program window
Method 2 of 4: For Mac
Step 1. Open Spotlight
Click the magnifying glass icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 2. Open the Network Utility option
Double click Network Utility ” at the top of the search results. After that, the “Network Utility” window will be opened.
Step 3. Click Traceroute
This tab is at the top of the “Network Utility” window.
Step 4. Enter the desired website address
In the text field at the top of the window, type the address of the website whose IP address you want to find.
- For example, to find Google's IP address, type google.com.
- You don't need to include the "https:" or "www." from the website address.
Step 5. Click Trace
It's a blue button on the right side of the page.
Step 6. Take note of the IP address of the website
Next to the line of text " traceroute to [website] ", you can see the address in parentheses. This address is the IP address of the website in question.
For example, if you wanted to trace the IP address of a Google website, you could see the message " traceroute to google.com (216.58.193.78)"
Method 3 of 4: For iPhone
Step 1. Download iNetTools from App Store on iPhone
To download it:

Open the app
“ App Store ”.
- Touch " Search ”.
- Touch search bar.
- Type inettools
- Touch " Search ”.
- Touch " GET ” next to the " iNetTools " heading.
- Enter the account password or Touch ID when prompted.
Step 2. Open iNetTools
Touch OPEN ” once displayed in the App Store, or tap the iNetTools app icon.
Step 3. Touch Trace Route
It's in the center of the screen.
Step 4. Touch the address bar
This bar is below the " Server " heading, at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Enter the site address
Type in the address of the website whose IP address you want to find (eg google.com for Google websites).
You don't need to include the www section. from the site address
Step 6. Touch Start
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 7. Write down the IP address
Next to the " traceroute to [website] " text line under the " Result " heading, you can see the address in parentheses. This address is the IP address of the website you are looking for.
For example, if you wanted to find Google's IP address, you could see the text " traceroute to google.com (216.58.193.78)"
Method 4 of 4: For Android
Step 1. Download PingTools Network Utility
To download it:

Open the app
“ Google Play Store ” on Android devices.
- Touch search bar.
- Type pingtools.
- Touch " PingTools Network Utility ”.
- Touch " INSTALL ”.
- Touch " AGREE ”.
Step 2. Open PingTools Network Utility
Touch the button “ OPEN ” on the Google Play Store page, or tap the PingTools app icon.
Step 3. Touch
It's in the top-left corner of the screen. After that, a pop-out menu will be displayed.
Step 4. Touch Traceroute
It's in the middle of the pop-out menu.
Step 5. Enter the address
Touch the address bar at the top of the screen, then type in the address of the website whose IP address you want to find (eg google.com for Google websites).
You don't need to include the www section. from the address
Step 6. Touch TRACE
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 7. Write down the IP address
Under the heading " Traceroute to [website] ", you can see the IP address. This address is the IP address for the website you are looking for.
For example, if you wanted to find a Google IP address, you would see the text " Traceroute to Google " and " 216.58.193.78 " below it
Tips
- You can type a website's IP address into the browser's address bar to visit the website in question. Sometimes, this method can bypass web filters or parental controls.
- While not all websites allow you to review their IP address, using the " traceroute " command instead of the " ping " command prevents many websites from displaying incorrect addresses.
