There are several different approaches that a program can use. For best results, try one of the following approaches:
- Dictionary attack: Tests words. Guesses can be faster than others if successful. However, the probability of failure is high because not all passwords fall into this category.
- Brute force attack: Guess every possible combination. This only applies to short passwords and/or fast processors.
- Brute force with mask: If you remember anything about the password, you will be given the opportunity to notify the program before the guess is brute-forced. For example, guesses will only use letter combinations, not numbers.
- After the file is extracted, the original ZIP archive is still protected by a password. To delete it, create a new ZIP archive from the extracted file by right-clicking it and selecting "Send to" → "Compressed (Zip file)".

- Brute force attacks can take some time, depending on the processor speed of your computer. If you want to use this approach, consider borrowing a better computer.
