Dust, dirt, and oil can stick to the laptop keyboard easily. Every now and then, clean the laptop keyboard so that your laptop is cleaner. Cleaning the laptop will also extend its life.

Step 1. Unplug all USB cables and external drives connected to the laptop, then unplug the laptop from the power supply and turn off the laptop
Step 2. To quickly clean the laptop, turn your laptop upside down
Pat the front to try to get rid of the dirt on the keyboard.
Step 3. Cover the tip of a teaspoon with a damp cloth, then drag the spoon all over the edges of the keys and keyboard to remove dust and smudges
Step 4. Turn on the vacuum cleaner, then aim the cleaner at the laptop to pick up more dust
You can also use a hairdryer to remove the stain. However, make sure you repeat step 2 first before continuing.
Step 5. If you are still having trouble cleaning the keyboard, remove the keys on the keyboard
As much as possible, avoid this step as unplugging the keys can damage the laptop and take a long time.
- Know the brand of your laptop, and make sure the buttons on your laptop are removable.
- Be careful when releasing the buttons. The keys on the laptop are "held" with fragile plastic tabs. Lift the button slowly, and keep it in a safe place.
- Wipe the button with a damp tissue or cotton swab that has been moistened with rubbing alcohol/hydrogen peroxide. Make sure the buttons are not exposed to liquid.
- Re-enter the button. Depending on the type of keyboard, you may need to re-insert the keys into the slots (for keys with metal mounts) or press the end of the keys.
- Wash the buttons if needed. Be careful that you don't lose the buttons in the wash.

Tips
- You can press the protruding part of the button to push the button back into its slot. Generally, the protruding button will be easily visible because the button protrusion is not aligned with the other buttons.
- Dip the button in alcohol to remove any bacteria on the button if needed. However, sometimes alcohol can remove the print on the keyboard.
- To lift the button, use a flathead screwdriver. Make sure you don't lift the button too hard.
- Find a diagram of the keyboard, or take a photo of your keyboard before you start cleaning it to make it easier for you to get the keys back in their place.
