When you connect an e-mail account to Outlook, you must enter your e-mail address and password so that Outlook can send and receive e-mail from that account. If you change your email account password, you must change your Outlook password to keep Outlook from accessing your account. You can also protect your Outlook data file with a password, which can be changed at any time as long as you know the original password. If you use Outlook.com, you can change the password for that account through the Microsoft account portal.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Email Accounts in Outlook
Step 1. Click File > Info to display the Account Information screen
If you are using Outlook 2003, click Tools > E-mail Accounts
Step 2. Click the Account Settings button, then click Account Settings
You will see a new window showing all connected email accounts.
If you are using Outlook 2003, select View or change existing email accounts
Step 3. Select the account for which you want to change the password
Keep in mind that you will be changing the password Outlook uses to access your email account, not the password for that account. If you need to change your email account password, you'll need to do so through your email provider's website. For example, if you use Gmail, change your Gmail password via the Google Account Recovery page, then change your email password in Outlook.
If you want to change your Outlook data file password, read the next steps

Outlook will test your password and try to sign in to your account. If the password you entered is correct, you will receive a Congratulations message!.
Method 2 of 3: Outlook Data File
Step 1. Click File > Info to display the Account Information screen
You can set a password for an Outlook data file (PST). After setting a password for the PST file, the user will be asked to enter the password to open a protected email account. The account settings window will open.
Step 3. Click the Data File tab to display the Outlook data file information
Step 4. Select Outlook Data File and click Settings. The data file settings window will open.
Step 5. Click the Change Password button
This button cannot be clicked if you are using an Exchange account. In this case, your Exchange password also serves to protect the data file.
Step 6. Enter the old password, then enter the new password twice
You cannot change the data file password if you do not know the old password.
Method 3 of 3: Outlook.com
Step 1. Visit the Microsoft account password reset page
The email account @outlook.com (or @hotmail.com, or @live.com) is a Microsoft account. Therefore, changing the Outlook.com email account password will also change the passwords for other Microsoft products linked to the account, including Windows, Skype, and Xbox Live.
You can start the account reset process by visiting account.live.com/password/reset
Step 2. Select the I forgot my password option and click Next. The password reset process will begin.
Step 3. Enter the Outlook.com email address for which you want to change the password, and fill in the Captcha
Step 4. Choose how to send the reset code
You can receive a reset code in several ways, depending on your account settings. If you link your phone number to a Microsoft account, you can receive a code via SMS, and if you have the Microsoft Account app installed on your phone, you can generate a reset code through the app.
If you can't access all shipping lines, click the I don't have any of those option, you'll be asked to fill out a short questionnaire to validate your identity
Step 5. Enter the code you received to enter the password setting page
Step 6. Enter the new password twice
Your password will change, and you'll be prompted to sign in again with a new password across devices.
