Love a certain Flash game, but don't want to connect your computer to the internet every time you want to play it? Luckily, you can download most Flash games to your PC or Mac to play them offline. You just need a web browser, your favorite games and a little time.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using File2HD from Any Browser
Step 1. Open the site that provides your favorite Flash game using your browser, but don't start the game
Step 2. Copy the sitelink from the browser address bar
Step 3. Open File2HD.com from a browser
This site will display the full address of the linked file on any web page. To use File2HD, you don't need to download or install anything.
Step 4. Paste the copied link to File2HD, then click Get Files.
Step 5. Locate the game's ".swf" file
Flash games end with the ".swf" extension, and can be opened in any browser that supports Flash. Once File2HD displays a list of links in a browser window, press Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F if you're on a Mac) to open the search bar. Enter ".swf" in the search bar, and press Enter.
Step 6. Once you find the game link, right-click the link, then save the game by selecting Save Link As in the menu
If you're using a Mac, press Control+click instead of right-clicking. Remember where the game files are saved.
Step 7. Open the game by going to the file save location, then double clicking the game
The game will open in your browser, but since you're running it from your computer, you don't need to be connected to the internet to play it.
Method 2 of 2: Downloading from Source Code
Step 1. Open the site that provides your favorite Flash game using a browser
Click the game on the site, then wait for the game to load.
Step 2. Open the page source code (or page information, if you are using Firefox)
The steps to unlock the source code vary, depending on the browser type.
- Show page elements in Chrome by pressing Ctrl+⇧ Shift+C. If you're using a Mac, press Cmd+⇧ Shift+C.
- View the page's source code in Internet Explorer or Safari by right-clicking the page (or pressing {keypress|Control}}+click if you're using a Mac) outside of the game, then selecting View Source from the menu that appears.
- View page information in Firefox by right-clicking the page (or pressing {keypress|Control}}+click if you're using a Mac) outside of the game, then selecting View Page Info from the menu that appears. Click Media to display the "summoned" link on the page. To sort links by file type, click Type at the top of the page.
Step 3. Find ".swf" in the source code
Click the window that appears, then press Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F if you're on a Mac) to start the search. Enter ".swf" in the search box. The game you want should appear as the first or second result, depending on the provider's site.
In Firefox, you'll need to scroll through the media list and find the ".swf" file with the name of the game you want
Step 4. Copy the URL of the SWF file by double-clicking the link, then right-clicking (or pressing {keypress|Control}}+click if you're on a Mac) and selecting Copy from the menu that appears
If you're using Firefox, click on the file and select Save as.
If the SWF file link doesn't include a domain name (eg “/strategygames/crimson-room.swf” instead of www.addictinggames.com/strategygames/crimson-room.swf), add the site's domain name before the SWF file link
Step 5. Save the SWF file to the computer by pressing Ctrl+ S (or cmd+ S if you're using a Mac) and choose a save location that's easy to remember.
Step 6. Open the game by going to the file's save location, then double-clicking the game
The game will open in your browser, but since you're running it from your computer, you don't need to be connected to the internet to play it.
