Do you mind paying a fortune for a leather piece that you can easily make? So with a little effort you can make leather bracelets with makeshift materials. The process is very easy, and you will end up with a stylish handmade piece of jewelry. You can try any of these five techniques to make your own leather bracelet at home that showcases your creativity in style.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Making a Beaded Leather Bracelet
Step 1. Gather the required materials
You can find leather goods at hardware supply stores or online. To make a beaded leather bracelet, you will need string or leather cord and beads with holes large enough for your leather cord to fit through.
Step 2. Measure and cut the leather
Cut 2 sides of the string or leather cord with scissors. You can estimate the length by wrapping the leather strap around your wrist and adding a few inches to the overall length for the strap.
Step 3. Make a knot at the end
Tie the two ends of the leather cord with a knot. Leave a little at the end so it can be tied nicely around your wrist. For the beading process, the easiest way is to stick one end on a table or on the end of your pants.
Step 4. Begin the beading process
Thread the beads one by one into the leather string and slide them to the starting knot.
Step 5. Slip the bead onto the second leather string
Thread this leather string in the same bead that is opposite the first leather string. In this way we make a kind of loop around the beads, tie them to secure them. Repeat this method for the other beads.
Step 6. Continue to add more beads
Continue adding beads to your bracelet by threading each bead through the leather string and pulling the leather string through the center of the bead in the opposite direction. Do this until your bracelet is long enough to wrap around your wrist.
Step 7. For the last process
Make a basic knot to tie the ends of your bracelet. Remove the tape from the other end, and finally tie both ends around your wrist.
Method 2 of 5: Making a Braided Leather Bracelet
Step 1. Choose your materials. This bracelet can be made of three leather straps – either leather string or other leather material
To create a Bohemian style, use thick leather straps. For a simpler style, you can use leather strings.
Step 2. Measure and cut the skin
Wrap the leather around your wrist to determine how long the strap is needed. Cut 3 pieces of leather cord or leather string with scissors.
Step 3. Tie with a knot
Tie a regular knot at one end of the leather cord, to secure it. Tape the leather strap to the table with tape or attach it with a pin to the end of your trouser leg.
Step 4. Start braiding
Extend the right leather string over the left string. You use the same braiding method you would normally use on your hair.
Step 5. Cross the left string to the center
The second step is to move the sheet on the outer left and place it in the center. This way you create a new braid.
Step 6. Cross the right string again
Move the outer right sheet to the center. This is the same way as the previous one.
Step 7. Cross the left sheet again
Repeating the same pattern, move the left leather sheet to the center.
Step 8. Finish your braid
Work the braid along the leather strap until it reaches a sufficient length around your wrist. Tighten your braid to make the bracelet more even.
Step 9. Tie the ends
Tie the leather cord in a regular knot, and remove the tape and place the bracelet on your wrist. Tie both ends and cut off the rest.
Method 3 of 5: Making a Leather Cuff
Step 1. Prepare your ingredients
To make leather cufflinks, you will need leather materials, leather glue, a leather nail, waxed linen sheets, and a button or clip for the end of the bracelet.
Step 2. Measure and cut your leather material
Use a ruler to get a sheet of leather 5 cm wide, with a length that will fit your wrist plus 2.5 cm. Cut the leather with scissors or a knife.
Step 3. Coat your leather material
Glue the cut leather on top of the larger leather with leather glue. Use your fingers to smooth the surface of the skin from wrinkles, and leave it overnight. Adding a second sheet to your bracelet will give you a nicer finish.
Step 4. Cut the bracelet to size
Cut the ends of the second sheet of leather to make it the same size as the first sheet. You will get a bracelet with two sheets.
Step 5. Glue the edges
Use leather nails or waxed linen to attach the two ends of the cuff. You can use other pasting methods. By gluing them together, you secure both ends more and will give you a more stylish appearance.
Step 6. Add tongs
Use your nails and add leather glue to secure the edges. With the completion of this process. You are done.
Method 4 of 5: Making Friendship Leather Bracelets
Step 1. Choose your ingredients
For this bracelet, you will need a sheet of leather or leather string, fabric glue or leather glue, a needle and various colored embroidered lace. You will also need scissors to cut the leather sheet and string. Clamps can also be used.
Step 2. Measure and cut the leather sheet
Wrap a piece of leather around your wrist, adding 5 - 8 cm to the required length. The additional length is needed to tie the bracelet when it is finished. Cut the skin to size.
Step 3. Secure the leather sheet
Tape one end to the table, about 5 cm from the end.
Step 4. Start lining the leather sheet
Apply glue to the leather, and apply embroidered lace along the length. Glue the embroidered lace well before you change colors. When you're done, add glue and trim off the rest of the embroidery lace.
Step 5. Add different colors
Repeat the above process adding glue to the leather, and lining it with embroidered lace of different colors along the leather. Continue lining with the lace however you like, adding more glue and trimming off the rest.
Step 6. Repeat the pattern
Add as much lace as you like to your bracelet for added color variety. You can choose to cover your entire leather bracelet or just part of it, it's up to you.
Step 7. Complete the embroidery lace installation process
When you vary to your liking, attach the end of your lace to a needle and cut the leather sheet in an additional 2.5 cm. Sew with a needle along your lace. Pull out your needle at the other end, so that the tip is hidden under the lace lining
Step 8. Finish your bracelet
If you want to add a clasp to your bracelet, attach it to the end of the leather sheet at a point. Or, tie the ends along your wrists, and you're done.
Method 5 of 5: Making a Metal Button Leather Bracelet
Step 1. Gather your materials
A metal button leather bracelet requires strong leather, metal buttons, x-acto knife, hammer, tongs and scissors.
Step 2. Measure and cut the leather sheet
Wrap the skin around your wrist, and add a few cm. Use scissors to get the length you want, and trim around the corners all the way to the end.
Step 3. Install metal studs
Take your metal buttons and arrange them to your liking around your bracelet. When you get what you want, gently apply the leather until the hooks pierce the metal buttons. This method will not damage your skin, leaving only a small indentation.
Step 4. Cut the metal button hooks, using an x-acto knife to cut the hooks stuck to the skin
This cut is required if the hook has been completely inserted in the leather sheet; if you cut too wide it will show when the bracelet is finished
Step 5. Add metal studs
Slide the metal buttons if the button hooks were previously cut. The button hook will stick behind it. Twist the hook to secure it to the leather sheet.
Step 6. Bend down the button hook
Turn the leather sheet over and use a hammer to bend the button hooks. If there are two hooks on each side, use a hammer in the opposite direction.
Step 7. add buttons
To make the clasps, add sticky buttons on each end of the bracelet. There may be metal button hooks at the ends of the bracelets, you can smooth them out and hit with a hammer, or you may need to use glue.
Step 8. Try on your bracelet
Use the hook to secure your bracelet on your wrist. Arrange any metal buttons that may be irregularly placed. Your bracelet is done. Show off this new style of yours and make another one in stock
