In this guide, you will learn how to make a collared T-shirt out of a one dollar bill. This shape is a unique origami and is a creative way to tip! See Step 1 below to get started!
Step
Step 1. Fold the shorter part of the dollar bill in half
Make sure the picture of George is inside.
Step 2. Unfold
Fold both sides to the center crease of the first fold.
Step 3. Turn the dollar bill over and fold the white part on the side near the edge
Step 4. Turn it over again
At the same end, fold the corners to the center line created by the two folds. This will be the collar part. The exact angle is not important.
Step 5. Fold the ends across as in the picture
These folds can cross a circular pattern to form a "necklace"; see the front of the shirt in the next step. This fold also serves to adjust the length of the shirt.
Step 6. Fold the ends that just folded, until the bottom can fit under the “collar
The collar holds these folds in place. For the best fit, tuck the narrow end under the collar and slide your finger down to form a crease.
Step 7. Make the sleeves
- Unfold the two folds you just made. Then slightly open the two middle folds as "arms". Take one side at the bottom that you just made the fold in step 5. Pinch the corner shape (reverse the crease made in step 5 on the outer edge).
- Fold the sides back into place with the “arms” sticking out.
- Make the other arm in the same way.
Step 8. Fold the two folds back under the collar, and now the one dollar bill collared t-shirt is done
Tips
- Make the shirt several times until you get the shape of the shirt just right. You may have to reverse the folding step to see what went wrong and then fix it.
- This t-shirt shape can be used to leave a tip at a restaurant. You can also leave the tips in the shape of the pants so that they form a suit.
- Neat, new dollar bills are best for folding.
- Remember the order of the folds. It's even more impressive if you can quickly make T-shirts with your friends' money!
- Different types of money can be folded into T-shirts. You can even fold sheets of 20 Swedish krona, where the head and neck of the largest goose are in exactly the same position as a tie.
- The size of the five euro sheet may be too small, fold it at least ten euros.
Warning
- Don't use 't-shirts' as official payment. Maybe not acceptable.
- If you have a neat dollar bill and don't want to fold it, enough use a regular sheet of paper of the same size.
