Chokers (tight necklaces) are jewelry that has been known since the Victorian era. This piece of jewelery was designed to accentuate the elegance of a woman's neck and set it apart from the lacy collars that often adorned dresses at the time. The popularity of chokers continues to this day. You can easily make your own, maybe even be inspired to give it to someone else as a gift.

Method 1 of 3: Making a Choker Tattoo
Step 1. Purchase elastic jewelry thread
You can buy them at arts or crafts stores. If not, buy it online. There are a variety of different color options.
Step 2. Cut the thread
Cut a piece of yarn about twice the length of the sleeve. This choker model requires a lot of thread. When in doubt, it's better to cut more than too little. You can always trim off the excess thread later.
Step 3. Clamp the thread on the clipboard
Fold the yarn in half and pin the center of the fold to the clothespin on the board. You can also use binder clips and hardback books if you don't have a clipboard.
Step 4. Start creating a circle
A tattoo choker is basically a series of simple circles. Start with the yarn on the left (we'll call it "L") Loop it over the yarn on the right (we'll call it "R." Wrap the L through the R, then pull it through the loop you made while tying the L to the R. Pull until the loop is at the top of the thread.
Step 5. Continue
Do the same process, but this time use the yarn on the right, and loop the R through the L. Make sure you alternate between the left and right. Otherwise, the results will not look good. Continue until you get the necklace length that fits around your neck.
Step 6. Tie the end of the thread
This choker is quite elastic. So, you can tie both ends after getting the right size according to your neck circumference. To put it on, you simply stretch it so that it passes over your head. Thread one end of the thread through the loop on the other side of the necklace, then tie the two threads tightly.
Use a match or lighter to melt the ends of the thread so that the knot doesn't come loose when you put on the choker
Method 2 of 3: Making a Double Chain/Thread Choker with a Pendant
Step 1. Determine the length of the necklace
To find out the length of chain or thread needed, you can measure the circumference of the neck and add 2-3 cm or simply wrap the chain around the neck and add 2-3 cm. Once you have the correct measurement, cut the chain. Then cut the second chain, longer than the first chain.
Step 2. Attach the hook to the chain
Use a small jump ring to connect the ends of the chain and the lobster hook. Use long muzzle pliers to close the hook ring.
Jewelry-making supplies such as lobster hooks and hook rings can be purchased online or from craft stores. You can also recycle old jewelry that is no longer used
Step 3. Add a pendant for the choker
Pass both chains through the ring on the pendant. If the hoop isn't big enough, attach a hook ring and thread the chain through it so the pendant can slide easily.
Step 4. Try on a necklace and see how it looks
Secure the shorter chain around the neck using a lobster hook. Use the mirror to adjust the second chain to the desired length. Cut it to that length and attach it to the first chain using the hook ring.
Method 3 of 3: Making a Simple Ribbon Choker
Step 1. Make a simple choker necklace with a ribbon
First, measure the circumference of the neck with a tape measure, then add 2.5 cm. Or, you can simply wrap the ribbon around the neck and add 2.5 cm. After getting the exact measurement results, cut the tape.
Step 2. Sew the ends of the tape
Fold one end of the tape inward to make a loop 5-10 mm long. Sew with thread (choose the same thread color as the ribbon). Do the same with the other end and make sure you fold it in the same direction as before. That way, the ends of the ribbon are on the same side and won't be visible when you're wearing the choker.
If you're in a hurry or don't feel like sewing, you can simply tie both ends of the ribbon behind the neck. If you choose this method, add about 5 to 7.5 cm to your neck circumference measurement so that the band is long enough
Step 3. Add thread to tie the choker
Cut embroidery floss or thread about 5 to 7.5 cm. You can choose yarn of the same color as the ribbon. If it's not there, you can choose any color because it won't be visible from the front. You simply thread it into the loop at the end of the ribbon you've sewn, then tie the ends together to secure the choker. Trim excess thread.
Step 4. Attach the hook
If you want something more elegant, don't just tie the choker with thread, but add hooks and chains. You can buy them online or pick them up from old necklaces that you no longer use. Ribbon chokers will look beautiful just the right length, adding 1cm to each end is fine. Jewelry chains are so thin, you can cut them with ordinary scissors. Sew the chain by threading the thread through the chain several times.
