This wikiHow teaches you how to request and receive payments using Venmo on a mobile device or desktop computer.

Method 1 of 2: On Mobile Devices
Step 1. Open Venmo
This application is marked by a light blue icon with the letter “ Vthick white.
You can download Venmno from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store if it's not already available on your device
Step 2. Enter the account username and password, then touch the Sign In button
If you have Touch ID enabled, touch the “Home” button
Step 3. Touch "New Payment/Request" button
This pencil icon is next to the “ $ It's in the lower-right corner of the screen (Android devices) or in the upper-right corners of the screen (iPhone or iPad).
Step 4. Enter the payer name
Touch the contact's name or type in the name, email address, or phone number of the person you want to ask for money.
You can ask more than one person for money at a time
Step 5. Enter the amount of funds
Use the keypad to enter the requested amount, including the decimal point.
The amount will be shown to the right of the payer's name, at the top of the screen
Step 6. Enter the reason for requesting money
Type a reason into the " What's it for? " field under the payer's contact information.
You must enter a reason in the " What's it for? " field, but no word or character limit applies
Step 7. Touch Request
It's on the left side of the screen, just above the keyboard.
Step 8. Touch Request $(Amount of Funds) from (Payer)
This green button is above the keyboard.
- A request for funds will be sent to the recipient you entered.
- When the request is accepted, the requested amount will be added to the Venmo balance.
- Once the funds are deposited in your Venmo account, you can transfer them to your bank account if you wish.
Method 2 of 2: On Desktop Site
Step 1. Visit https://venmo.com/account/sign-in/ via a web browser
Step 2. Sign in to the account
Type your username, email address, or phone number and account password into the appropriate fields.
Step 3. Click Log in to Venmo
It's in the lower-right corner of the screen.
- If prompted, click “ Send Code ”, check the text message on the phone with the number associated with the Venmo account. After that, enter the six-digit code in the "ENTER CODE" field in the browser window and click the button “ Submit Code ”.
- If you don't use a public computer and don't want to enter the security code every time you want to log in to your account, click the “ Remember ”.
Step 4. Click Charge
It's in the upper-left corner of the window, below the Venmo logo. A payment request dialog box will open.
Step 5. Enter the name of the payer
Type the name, email address, or phone number of the person you want to ask for money in the " To: " field.

Step 6. Enter funds
Type the amount (including the decimal) next to the " $" in the column below the payer's contact information.
Step 7. Enter the reason for the request
Type the reason in the column next to the amount of funds requested.

Step 8. Click Charge
It's a blue button in the lower-right corner of the dialog box.
- The request will be sent to the recipient you entered.
