This wikiHow teaches you how to send a large file to another computer using email or a file-sharing service. The easiest way is to use one of the cloud storage services (cloud). If you don't want to sign up for an account, use the WeTransfer site to share files up to a maximum of 2 GB.

Method 1 of 4: Using Google Drive
Step 1. Visit Google Drive
Run a web browser on your computer and visit https://drive.google.com/. If you are already logged in (login), the Google Drive account page will be opened.
If you are not logged in, click the button Go to Drive in blue in the middle of the page, if applicable. Next, enter your Google email address and password.
Step 2. Click NEW
It's a blue button in the top-left corner. A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click File upload
This option is in the drop-down menu. A window will appear.
Click Upload folder in this menu if you want to upload a folder containing files.
Step 4. Select the file
Open the repository for the file you want to send to another computer, then click on the file to select it.
- If you want to select multiple files at once, press Command (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while clicking each file individually.
- When you select a folder, click the folder you want to upload.
Step 5. Click Open located in the lower right corner
The file you selected will begin to upload.
Click Upload when you upload a folder.
Step 6. Select the file
Click the file you want to email.
To select multiple files, you can press Command or Ctrl while clicking the desired file
Step 7. Click "Share"
The icon is in the shape of a person with a sign + beside him. It's at the top of the page.
Step 8. Type in the email address
Enter the email address of the person you want to send the file to in the field provided.
Step 9. Make sure the file can be downloaded
Click the "Edit" icon
then click Can edit in the drop-down menu that appears.
Step 10. Click Send
It's a blue button at the bottom of the window. The link for your file will be emailed.
If the recipient doesn't use Google email, check the "Send the link" box, then click the button again Send.
Step 11. Download the file on another computer
To download the file, you or the recipient of the email must click Open in the recipient's email, then click the "Download" icon
at the top right of the page.
Recipients who don't use Gmail email should click ⋮ at the top right of the page, then click Download in the drop-down menu that appears.
Method 2 of 4: Using Microsoft OneDrive
Step 1. Visit Microsoft OneDrive
Run a web browser on your computer and visit https://www.onedrive.com/. If you're signed in, your Microsoft OneDrive account will be opened.
If you're not signed into your Microsoft account, enter your email address and password before continuing
Step 2. Click Upload
It's the up-facing arrow at the top of the page. A drop-down menu will open.
Step 3. Click Files
This option is in the drop-down menu. A new window will be opened.
If you want to send the entire contents of the folder, you can click Folders here.
Step 4. Select the file
Click the file you want to upload.
- If you want to select multiple files at once, press Command (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while clicking the files individually.
- If you select a folder, you can click the folder you want to send.
Step 5. Click Open located in the lower right corner
The file you selected will be uploaded to OneDrive.
Click Upload when you select a folder.
Step 6. Click Share located on the top left side of the OneDrive page
This will bring up a pop-up menu.
Step 7. Check the "Allow Editing" box at the top of the menu
Step 8. Click the Email option at the bottom of the menu
Step 9. Enter your email address
Type the email address of the person you want to send the file to in the text box at the top of the menu.
Step 10. Click Share located at the bottom of the menu
A link for the file will be sent to the email address you specified.
Step 11. Download the file on another computer
To download the file on another computer, you or the recipient of the email must open the email invitation and click View in OneDrive, and clicking Download at the top of the page.
If OneDrive asks you to sign in, click the x which is in the upper right corner of the login command box.
Method 3 of 4: Using Dropbox
Step 1. Visit Dropbox
Run a web browser on your computer and visit https://www.dropbox.com/. Once signed in, your Dropbox account page will open.
If you're not signed in yet, type in your Dropbox account email address and password before continuing
Step 2. Click Upload files
It's a blue button on the right side of the page. This will open the window provided for selecting files.
Step 3. Select the file
Open the location where you want to send the file, then click the file you want.
If you want to select multiple files at once, press Command (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while clicking each file individually
Step 4. Click Open in the lower right corner
The file will start uploading to Dropbox.
Step 5. Click Share
This option is to the right of the file when you hover your mouse over it. A pop-up menu will be displayed.
If you don't hover your mouse over the file you want to share, the button Share will not appear.
Step 6. Click Create a link on the right side of the page
A link for the file will be created.
Step 7. Click Copy link
This option is to the right of the link. The link will be saved to the clipboard so you can paste it wherever you want.
Step 8. Email the link
This can be done by opening your email inbox and creating a new email. Next, enter the email address in the " To " field, then paste the link into the email body by pressing Command+V (for Mac) or Ctrl+V (for Windows), then click the " Send " button or icon.
By sending a link this way, people who don't use Dropbox can still download files from that link
Step 9. Download the file on another computer
You or the recipient of the email can do this by opening the email that was sent, clicking on the link, then clicking Download at the top right of the page, and click Direct download in the drop-down menu that appears.
If you are prompted to sign in to Dropbox, click the X in the upper-right corner of the command box to download the file.
Method 4 of 4: Using WeTransfer
Step 1. Visit WeTransfer
Run a web browser on your computer and visit
Step 2. Click Take me to Free
It's in the lower-left side of the page.
If this option is not present, skip this step
Step 3. Click I agree
It's a blue button in the lower-left side of the page. The file submission form will open.
Step 4. Click Add your files at the top of the file submission form
This will open a window.
Step 5. Select the file
Open the repository for the file you want to send, then tap the file to select it.
- If you want to select multiple files at once, press Command (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while clicking the files individually.
- You can select files up to a maximum of 2 GB.
Step 6. Enter the email address
Fill in the fields below:
- Email to - Enter up to a maximum of 20 recipient email addresses. Make sure you've pressed the space bar between each email address.
- Your Email - Enter the email address you want to use to send the file.
Step 7. Click Transfer
It's a blue button at the bottom of the form. The file will be uploaded, and will automatically be sent to the email address you have entered in the " Email to " field.
Step 8. Download the file in the email
You or the recipient of the email can do this by opening the email, clicking Get your files, then click Download.
