Chatroulette is a popular anonymous video chat site. But sometimes you are blocked from using its services for no apparent reason and without warning. There are several ways you can try to lift the Chatroulette ban.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Calling Chatroulette
Step 1. Write an email message
To contact Chatroulette staff, compose an email and address to [email protected].
Chatroulette does not have a feedback form on its website, or a separate email address for technical complaints or revocation requests. All feedback for chat sites uses this email address, so your messages may take a little longer for Chatroulette staff to read
Step 2. Describe your problem
In the body of the email, say that your IP was rejected from the site and explain why you believe the ban is wrong.
- The chance of the ban being lifted will be greater if you do not violate the applicable provisions. Many users claim that other people click the “Report” button whenever they see someone they don't want to see. For example, this could happen if a man wants to reduce the number of people on this site to increase his chances of chatting with a woman, or if a woman or man rejects someone he deems unattractive. If you suspect that you were rejected for reasons like this, make sure you explain it.
- If you did do something that could be considered a rule violation, you should apologize and promise not to do it again in the future. This may not work, but staff can look at your chat history to determine if you broke the rules or not, so admitting your mistake is better than denying it.
Step 3. Provide information to identify you
You must provide your IP address and the approximate time the ban will start on Chatroulette. Staff may find out your identity if they trace back the source of the email, but making this process easier for them will increase your chances.
As previously described, Chatroulette may use this information to view your chat history and determine whether or not you were legally rejected
Step 4. Wait
This process can take hours, days, or weeks for Chatroulette staff to respond to you-if they process your report. In the meantime, check the site periodically to see if your ban has been lifted.
- Please note that Chatroulette is under no obligation to lift restrictions or reply to your emails, even if you are innocent.
- Also understand that your ban may have been lifted but you didn't receive the confirmation email. That's why you should keep checking the site even if you haven't heard back from the staff.
Method 2 of 5: Changing IP Address
Step 1. Look at the IP address
You can find this information by using a computer or by accessing an IP address service on the internet. Once you know your IP address, make a note of it so you know if it changed after going through the process.
- You can use Google to check your IP address using the keyword "my ip". The public IP will appear at the top of the results page.
-
You can use IP websites on the internet to find out your IP address. Some popular options include:
- What Is My IP Address:
- My IP Address:
- My Proxy:
- You can find out your computer's IP address by typing "ipconfig" into Command Prompt on Windows or Terminal on Mac.
Step 2. Turn off the modem for a moment
Turn off or unplug the modem or router for five minutes before turning it back on. Once everything is back up and running, double-check your IP address.
- If you have a dynamic IP address, this process is sufficient to change your IP address.
- You do not need to restart the computer.
- Once the connection is restored, double-check your IP address and compare it to the old one. If it changes, visit chatroulette again. If it hasn't changed, continue the process below.
Step 3. Turn everything off overnight
If turning off the modem doesn't work, turn off or unplug the modem overnight. You should also turn off the computer.
- Again, this only works if you have dynamic IP addresses, i.e. IP addresses that change automatically when certain conditions are met.
- Since the modem is turned off longer and deeper, this action will trigger a reset of the IP address.
- Once the connection is restored, double-check your IP address and compare it to the old one. If it changes, visit chatroulette again. If it doesn't change, continue to the next step.
Step 4. Change the IP address manually
If you can't change the IP address, you can change it manually from your computer.
-
From the Network and Sharing Center, go to "Change Adapter Settings."
-
Fill in the IP address with a random number in the Subnet Mask. Type "111-111-111-111" into the box and press the Tab key on the keyboard to automatically generate a new number.
- Right-click on the local connection and select "Properties". Check the "Obtain an IP address automatically" box before closing it. Your IP address will now change.
Step 5. Contact your internet service provider (ISP)
If all of the above fail or if your IP address is static, you should contact and ask your ISP to change your IP address.
If your ISP is unable to change your IP address, the ISP operator can guide you to manually change your IP address
Method 3 of 5: Using a Server Proxy
Step 1. Look for a free proxy server
With a proxy server or proxy site you can browse the web through third party servers by masking your own IP address. When a website contacts your computer and reads your IP, it will receive a third party IP address.
-
Some popular server proxies include:
- Anonymouse:
- Change IP Country:
- Free Proxy Server:
- Warp Proxy:
Step 2. Type the Chatroulette URL into the server proxy URL box
Once you've selected a server proxy, scroll down to the site address box on the page and type the Chatroulette URL into it. Press the "Go" button (or something similar) to go to the Chatroulette site.
Make sure that you are actually chatting using a server proxy. Your IP address probably won't be blocked, but you could have problems trying to chat
Step 3. Try different server proxies as needed
If the first proxy server you selected doesn't work, try another one.
- The servers may have gaps in them, allowing your IP address to leak to Chatroulette.
- Chatroulette might recognize your IP address as a proxy thus blocking you.
Method 4 of 5: Changing Adobe Flash Settings
Step 1. Visit Adobe Flash settings on the internet
Chatroulette video chat using Adobe Flash. Change the Adobe Flash settings to clear the Chatroulette database on your computer.
- Adobe Flash settings on the internet can be found at:
- Notice that the settings panel is displayed at the top of the screen. At first glance the panel looks like the picture.
Step 2. Look for Chatroulette in the display panel
The View pane is located at the top of the page. You will see a list of websites that have left information on your computer. Scroll through this list until you find Chatroulette. Click once on its name and then press the "Delete website" button to delete it.
- If your ban has just taken effect, the Chatroulette site should appear near the top of the list.
- If you can't find Chatroulette or want to delete your Internet presence, you can also press the "Delete all sites" button. This will clean up the information left by all the websites in the list.
Step 3. Restart the browser
Close your web browser completely. After a minute or two, open your browser again and visit Chatroulette.
- You may be able to access Chatroulette immediately without even restarting your browser; But restarting your browser will change its settings and increase your chances of success.
- If you cannot access Chatroulette after this step, continue to the next step. If you can access it, it's done here.
Step 4. Turn on the computer and try again
If closing your web browser doesn't work, completely shut down your computer and then restart it.
This method doesn't work if a complete computer reset doesn't work
Method 5 of 5: Other Ways to Change or Hide IP Address
Step 1. Look for a free Wi-Fi signal area network
There are many places that offer free wireless internet access in most suburban and urban areas. Look for one of these places and visit Chatroulette from there.
- You can also visit coffee shops and libraries, but since these places are often full of people, video chatting can be difficult. Find a more private space, such as a car or private study in the library.
- When you connect from this location, your IP address will automatically change to the IP address of this location.
Step 2. Use an IP masking app
The IP masking app works as its name suggests. This app will disguise your IP address while you are surfing the Internet, preventing other websites from seeing your real IP.
-
Some of the options available, for example:
- Skydur VPN:
- PaperBus:
- Hide IP NG:
- Hide IP Browser:
- Easy Hide IP:
Step 3. Use a VPN service
VPN or Virtual Private Network, is a network that allows you to access public network data, such as the Internet, while maintaining the security of the private network. Your IP address will be masked for most outside websites.
-
Some of the options available, for example:
- OverPlay:
- PureVPN:
- Express VPN:
- Vypr VPN:
