This wikiHow teaches you how to display your computer screen to Skype message recipients during a voice or video chat. While you can do this in Skype on a Windows or Mac computer, you can't share your screen on the mobile version of Skype.
Step
Step 1. Open Skype
Click the blue icon with the white “S” to open Skype. If your login information is saved, you will be taken directly to the Skype main page.
- If you're not logged into your account, type in your Skype email address (or connected phone number) and account password to continue.
- If you're using a Windows computer, make sure you're opening the downloaded Skype, not the default version of Windows.
Step 2. Start a video or voice chat
Select the recipient's name from the left pane of the Skype window, then click the video camera or phone icon in the upper-right corner of the window. After that, the recipient will be contacted immediately.
- You can share the screen view while making a phone or video call.
- If it is the recipient of the message who calls you, click the answer button or “ Answer " which is desired.
Step 3. Click +
It's at the bottom of the call window.
Step 4. Click Share screens…
It's in the middle of the pop-up menu. Once clicked, a window with additional options will be displayed.
Step 5. Select the screenshot you want to share
Click the screen you want to share with the recipient. If there is only one screen, you will only see one option in the list.
You can also click the drop-down box “ Share your screen ” at the top of the pop-up window and choose “ Share a window ” to specify the window you want to share.
Step 6. Click Start
It's at the bottom of the pop-up window.
Step 7. Click Stop sharing to stop sharing the screen display
Usually, this option is in the box in the upper-right corner of the screen. However, you can move the box around the screen. Once clicked, your screen display will stop showing on the recipient's computer or mobile device.
Tips
- You can share computer screens with mobile device users, but you cannot share mobile device screens.
- Be careful with the bandwidth limitations set by the internet service provider. It's a good idea to share your screen display only if you have sufficient internet speed to support video calls.
Warning
- Keep in mind that internet quality can “freeze” your video calls for a moment.
- If you are using the Windows built-in version of Skype, the screen sharing options or “ Share screens ” will not be displayed.
