Sharing books is a practical way to get more reading. Now, you can share books on your Kindle with anyone you want. All you need is the recipient's email address so they can access an interesting new book to read. The recipient does not have to have a Kindle device to enjoy reading because the Kindle offers a free reader application that can be downloaded. You can also create a family library to share literature with family members and build a large book library.

Method 1 of 2: Borrowing Books
Step 1. Sign in to your account on the Amazon.com site
Visit www.amazon.com/mycd to access the “Manage Your Content and Devices” page. Click the “Contents” tab. After that, the books you've downloaded to your Kindle will be displayed.
Step 2. Choose a book
Click the “Select” box next to the book you want to lend to a friend, then click the “Actions” box to display a small menu with several options. Select "Loan this title".
If the “Loan this title” option is not available when you open the action menu, the selected book cannot be loaned
Step 3. Enter your friend's email address
After “Loan this title” is clicked, a new page will load and you can enter the information of the friend you want to borrow the book from. Type the email address, recipient name, and optional message into the fields provided, then click the “Send” button.
Step 4. Ask the friend in question to check their email account
The beneficiary has seven days to receive the book lent, and 14 days from the day of receipt to keep and read it. After the 14 day period ends, the book will be returned to your library.
You cannot access the book on any device while the book is still on loan
Method 2 of 2: Setting Up a Family Library
Step 1. Create an Amazon Household account
You must join the Amazon Household service in order to create and manage a family library or Family Library. The Amazon Household service consists of two adults with their respective Amazon accounts, and a maximum of four children with profiles created as part of an adult (or parent) account.
- Visit “Manage Accounts and Devices” at www.amazon.com/mycd.
- Click the “Settings” tab.
- Select “Invite Adult” on the “Households and Family Library” tab.
- Ask the next adult (e.g. spouse) to sign in to their Amazon account.
- Once the second adult is signed in, select “Yes” to share payment methods, Amazon content and services, and manage child profiles.
- Click "Create Household".
- When prompted to set up content sharing through the Family Library, click “Yes”.
Step 2. Visit the “Manage Accounts and Devices” page
Click the “Your Content” tab.
Step 3. Select the content you want to share
Click the “Select” box next to the content you want to share. After that, click “Add to Library”.
If you don't see the “Add to Library” option, select the “Show Family Library” tab
Step 4. Specify the profile to which you want to add content
Select the adult profile or the child's Free Time profile that you want to add readings to, then click "OK".
Tips
- Friends who receive books don't need a Kindle device to read books on loan. He can download a free Kindle reader app on his device to access the book.
- Look for books that can be loaned out when you buy a new book. The book product detail page will display information indicating whether the book can be loaned or not.
- Send a message to a friend's private email address to make sure he or she can get the book that was lent. Sometimes, a person's personal email address is not used as the email address for their Kindle account.
Warning
- You can only lend a book once at a time (books cannot be loaned to many people at the same time). Therefore, make sure you lend the book to someone who will actually read it.
- After setting up a family library (Family Library), the two adults involved must share a payment method.
- You cannot read books that are being loaned during the loan period.
- You can't borrow magazines or newspapers from your device, only books.
