To use eBay, the world's largest online selling site, you first need to create an account. With an eBay account, you can bid on auction items, buy products directly (like on Amazon.com), and even become an online seller by selling or auctioning your items to other buyers in the world. See step 1 below to get started.

Part 1 of 2: Creating a Basic Account
Step 1. Visit the eBay homepage
To visit it, enter https://www.ebay.com into your browser's navigation bar or search for "eBay" in a search engine.
Step 2. Click the "Register" link
At the top left of the eBay main page, you will see the text "Hi! Sign in or register", unless you are already logged into an account. Click "Register" to start the account creation process.
You can still search for items on eBay without an account, but you will be prompted to create an account if you try to sell or buy anything
Step 3. Enter your contact information on the next page
On the registration page, you will be asked to enter your first and last name, email address and password for your account.
- Make sure you enter an email address that you can access. This email address will be used to get your password if you forget your password.
- Your password must meet the minimum length requirement and use both numbers and letters. You may want to copy this information to a document and store the document in a safe place.
Step 4. Agree to the user agreement and privacy terms by clicking "Submit"
By creating an eBay account, you consent to eBay legally allowing eBay to use the information you enter for their benefit. Please read eBay's user agreement and privacy terms for more information.
Step 5. Accept the system-selected username
Once you have entered your account information, you will be taken to the "Success" screen. On this screen, you will be notified that eBay has chosen a username for you. This name is a name that all eBay residents will know. When you bid, buy or sell, other users will know this name. Click "Continue", and you will be taken back to the main page.
If you don't like the given username, you can easily change it to any username you like. See the bottom of this article for information
Step 6. Get started with eBay
Congratulations - your account has now been activated and you can start using eBay. You will receive an email from eBay with an official welcome message at the email address you entered.
Remember that you must provide payment information to sell or buy on eBay. You will be asked to enter this information when you try to buy, sell, or bid on anything on the site. eBay accepts a variety of payment methods but encourages users to use PayPal for payment purposes
Part 2 of 2: Changing Username
Step 1. Visit the eBay homepage
If you are not already on eBay, visit
Step 2. Open the account menu in the top left corner
Hover your mouse over "Hi, (your name)" in the upper left corner of the page. You will see a menu with "My Collections", "Account Settings", and "Sign Out" options.
Step 3. Click "Account Settings"
You will be taken to your account management page. Here, you have many options for providing personal information, setting personal settings, etc.
Step 4. Click "Personal Information" on the left
On the left side of the page, you will see a box containing a link with "Personal Information" listed at the top. Click the link.
Step 5. Click "Edit" next to "User ID"
You will see a small table containing some of the information you entered when you created your account. In the second line, you will see your username. Click "Edit" at the far right of this line.
Keep in mind that you can edit all of the information on this page if you wish
Step 6. Log back in
You will be asked to log back into your account to ensure that you are the owner of the account that will change the username. Your username should already be there, so you only need to enter the password you entered when creating your account. Click "Sign in" when you are done.
Step 7. Choose a new account name
On the next screen, you will be asked to enter the username you want. Remember that you can only replace it once every 30 days, so choose carefully! Click "Save" when you are done.
