Have you ever bought so much pizza that you had to eat the rest in the morning? If so, chances are the cold temperatures and tough skin texture will traumatize you! Most people think that warming the pizza with the microwave will not be able to restore the pizza's elasticity. In fact, by applying a few simple tricks, your pizza will still be able to retain its deliciousness even when eaten the next day!
Step
Method 1 of 3: Warming the Pizza in the Microwave
Step 1. Use a heat-resistant plate
Choose a type of plate that is safe to use in the microwave, such as a ceramic or glass plate. Make sure your plate doesn't contain any metal embellishments or ornaments! Remember, heating iron in the microwave can cause a fire.
- If you don't have the ideal glass or ceramic plate, use a paper plate. Make sure the surface of your paper plate is not covered with plastic!
- Never use plastic plates or containers! Besides being able to melt, heated plastic will release harmful chemicals that can affect the quality of your food.
Step 2. Place the pizza slices on a plate
Line the plate with paper towels to absorb the excess liquid on the pizza slices (omit this step if the pizza is really dry). After that, gradually warm the pizza (about 2-3 slices of pizza at a time). Make sure you space each slice of pizza so that the heat in the microwave is evenly distributed.
- If you want to warm up a large number of pizza slices, make sure you process it gradually. Putting too much pizza in the microwave can make the heating process uneven; as a result, you have to be willing to eat pizza that is cold and has a rubbery texture!
- If you like very crispy pizza crusts, place the pizza on parchment paper (special paper for use in the oven/microwave) instead of kitchen paper.
Step 3. Put a glass of water in the microwave; make sure you use a ceramic cup with a handle
Do not use glass made of other materials if you do not want your glass to crack or even melt (if the glass is made of plastic). Fill 2/3 of the glass with water because water can help soften the texture of the pizza and restore the deliciousness of the pizza topping.
- Make sure your microwave can fit a glass of water and a plate of pizza. If the space in your microwave is too tight, try placing a plate of pizza on the rim of the glass.
- Use a cup with a handle to make it easier to hold when you take it out of the microwave. If you don't have a glass with a handle, make sure you wait for the glass to cool completely before removing it from the microwave.
Step 4. Warm the pizza
Warm the entire pizza slice at 1 minute intervals on medium strength until the pizza is at your desired temperature. By slowly warming the pizza, you give all the pieces time to reach the same temperature. In other words, toppings that generally heat up faster won't burn your tongue and the inside of the pizza will also feel warm when eaten.
- Check the temperature of the pizza by holding your finger close to it. Don't touch it if you don't want to burn your fingers!
- If the pizza is about to be served, simply reheat the pizza in 30-second intervals on medium strength; but the risk, the texture of the pizza will not be as soft as pizza warmed with the previous method.
Method 2 of 3: Warming the Pizza in the Oven
Step 1. Set the oven to 180°C
Some ovens have a timer that will sound when the oven has reached the desired temperature. If your oven doesn't have one, make sure you control the heating time of the oven manually; at least, preheat the oven for 7-10 minutes or until the temperature is hot enough.
Use the oven with care; never open the oven door when someone is standing in front of it and keep the oven away from anything flammable
Step 2. Put the pizza in the oven
For a very crunchy pizza texture, place the pizza slices on a flat baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. But if you want a pizza that's crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, place the pizza directly on the oven rack; if you use this method, chances are some of the cheese will melt and drip to the bottom of the oven. This won't damage your oven, but it will automatically reduce the amount of cheese on the surface of your pizza!
Always wear special oven gloves or a small, thick towel when putting food in the oven and removing it. Don't let yourself hurt yourself
Step 3. Remove the pizza from the oven
Ideally, your pizza should take 3-6 minutes to warm up in the oven; Once the texture and temperature of the pizza are to your liking, remove them from the oven immediately. If you are placing the pizza on a flat baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, simply use oven mitts to remove the pan. If you put the pizza directly on the oven rack, be careful when removing it. Place the serving plate parallel to your oven rack, then slide the pizza using tongs onto the serving plate. Be careful not to injure yourself with a very hot pizza!
- Don't lift a hot pizza with tongs! Most likely, all the toppings that stick to the surface of the pizza will fall apart. Instead, try sliding the pizza slowly onto the serving plate.
- Let the pizza sit at room temperature before eating it; Don't let your mouth hurt from rushing to eat a pizza that's still hot!
Method 3 of 3: Using Additional Methods
Step 1. Warm the pizza on a frying pan
If you like the texture of your pizza crisp and crunchy, try warming it up in a skillet. Heat your skillet over medium heat; Once the skillet is hot, place a slice or two of the microwaved pizza on the pan (be careful, the pizza is still hot so make sure you hold it with tongs). After 30-60 seconds, remove the pizza and check the texture. Cook until the crispness of the pizza is to your liking.
- Don't fill the pan with pizza slices. If you put too many pizzas at the same time, the temperature of the pan will drop drastically, so the pizza won't be as crunchy as you'd like it to be.
- Want a crispier pizza texture? Melt 1 tbsp. butter in a skillet and cook your pizza slices on it. This method will produce a pizza that is crispy, crunchy, and has a delicious buttery aroma.
Step 2. Warm the pizza with a waffle grill
Forget the microwave or oven if you choose this method! The first thing you have to do is slide all the pizza toppings to one side. After that, fold the pizza and place it in the preheated waffle toaster; warm the pizza for 5 minutes; make sure you're constantly checking for doneness while the pizza is warming up.
If the pizza slices aren't too big (or if your waffle toaster is large), you don't need to fold the pizza or change the position of the toppings. Instead, stack two slices of pizza as if you were making a sandwich and place them in the waffle toaster
Step 3. Add various toppings to the pizza
Fresh ingredients like basil leaves and grated mozzarella cheese are the perfect topping for any type of pizza. In addition, you can also add a variety of traditional toppings such as olives, anchovies, and sliced paprika. Want to experiment? Try adding whatever ingredients you have at your table, such as minced chicken or seasoned meat, to the surface of the pizza!
If you don't want to add toppings, try eating pizza with a variety of dipping sauces such as ranch sauce or blue cheese to make the taste even more delicious
Tips
- Store pizza properly. Line the plate with paper towels, place the pizza on top, and wrap the plate with the pizza in plastic wrap. As much as possible, do not allow any air to enter afterwards. That way, your leftover pizza will still taste as soft and delicious as a freshly bought pizza!
- Remove any remaining cheese and sauce from the microwave as soon as the pizza is finished heating. Trust me, leftover cheese and/or sauce that has cooled and dried out will be much harder to clean!
