Slime may look disgusting, but it's fun to play with. Playing with slime can be a great sensory activity for young children and helps older children practice focus at work. However, some slime recipes produce slime that is so sticky that it's uncomfortable to the touch and messy! Fortunately, there is an easy way to improve slime recipes. You can also use a less sticky slime recipe if you want to make the next slime.

- 47 grams of colored toy sand
- 15 ml contact lens saline solution
Step
Method 1 of 5: Fixing Slime That Is Too Sticky
Step 1. Sprinkle about 2g of baking soda
Sprinkle baking soda over the slime and use your hands to knead it. Knead until the slime doesn't feel sticky anymore. If it's still sticky, add another 0.5 g of baking soda, then knead again.
It's important not to add too much baking soda as this can make the slime less elastic. Knead the slime thoroughly before adding any more baking soda
Step 2. Add 5 ml of contact lens solution
Pour the solution into the slime. Then, knead by hand so that the solution is evenly mixed. After a few minutes, the slime won't be so sticky anymore. If it's still sticky, add another 1.5 ml of contact lens solution to the mixture and knead again.
Be careful not to add too much contact lens solution, as this will make the slime rubbery and break easily
Step 3. Also add 5 ml of baby oil to reduce stickiness and make the slime shiny
Baby oil is a common ingredient for making slime shiny, and it can also make the slime less sticky. After adding 5 ml of baby oil, knead the slime thoroughly. Knead until the ingredients are well mixed and the slime is no longer sticky.
Do not add more than 5 ml of baby oil as the slime can clump and become inelastic
Step 4. Knead the slime until it feels no longer sticky
If you don't want to add anything else to the slime, keep kneading it! This process will help the ingredients mix more completely and produce the proper chemical reactions. Press the slime with your hands and fingers, drag it, shape it back into a ball, and press it again. Keep doing this until the slime doesn't feel too sticky.
Tips: To prevent the slime from sticking to your hands when kneading it, grease your hands with lotion or lightly coat them with some oil, such as baby oil.
Method 2 of 5: Using Shaving Cream and Contact Lens Solution
Step 1. Pour 120 ml of white glue into a bowl
Standard white glue works best for this recipe. Do not use clear glue or glue that contains glitter.
Step 2. Add 2 to 3 drops of dye and stir (if desired)
This step is optional, do it if you want to make the slime more colorful. If you don't want to do this, the slime will be white. Stir the mixture until the glue is no longer visible.
Tips: Keep in mind that slime will have a pastel color regardless of how much food coloring you use.
Step 3. Add 360g of shaving cream
The amount doesn't have to be exact, but try to use about 360g of shaving cream. Make sure you use a standard shaving cream that foams, not a gel.
- Men's shaving cream is the best choice because it's white so it won't affect the color of the slime.
- You can use women's shaving cream, but it's usually light pink or purple in color. Creams like this can change the color of the slime.
Step 4. Stir the ingredients until well blended
You can use a spoon or a rubber spatula. While stirring, make sure you scoop all the way to the bottom of the bowl so that all the ingredients are well combined. After all the ingredients are mixed well, you will get a soft slime.
At this stage the slime will look sticky. Don't worry though, there's still 1 more ingredient to add
Step 5. Add contact lens saline solution containing boric acid, then stir
Measure out 350 ml of contact lens saline solution for this prescription. Slowly pour the solution into the slime while stirring. Keep stirring until the slime no longer sticks to the bowl. Maybe not all contact lens saline solution will be used.
Contact lens saline solution must contain boric acid. Otherwise, the resulting slime will not be as expected. Read ingredient labels
Step 6. Knead the slime for a few minutes until it is no longer sticky
Lift the slime by hand; the slime will be a little sticky. Knead the slime by pulling it, then shape it into a ball again. Keep doing this process for a few minutes until the slime is no longer sticky.
If the slime is still sticky, add tsp of contact lens saline solution and knead again
Step 7. Store slime in an airtight container when not in use
Slime can only last for 1 to 2 days because it contains shaving cream. After this period, the slime will start to dry; You should throw it away if this happens.
Method 3 of 5: Using Detergent and Baking Soda
Step 1. Pour 120 ml of white glue into a bowl
Do not use clear glue because it contains different ingredients and the resulting slime is also different.
Step 2. Add enough liquid detergent, then stir to turn the glue into slime
Add tsp of detergent at a time until the glue starts to clot and doesn't stick to the bowl. The amount of detergent used depends on the brand, but usually 38 ml is required.
Detergents are sold in a variety of colors and scents. Choose the color and scent you like
Tips: If the detergent is clear, but you want colorful slime, add 2 to 3 food coloring to the mixture.
Step 3. Pour the baking soda and water in a separate glass
Mix 4 grams of baking soda and 15 ml of water in a glass. The measurements don't have to be exact; You only need a slightly cloudy solution. If the solution is too thick for the spoon to leave streaks, add water.
Step 4. Add the baking soda solution to the slime until it is no longer sticky
Measure out 15 ml of the baking soda solution, then pour it into the slime. Stir in the slime, and repeat the same process until the slime is no longer sticky. Maybe not all of the baking soda will be used.
If the baking soda solution runs out, make another
Step 5. Knead the slime for a few minutes
Remove the slime from the bowl. Pull the slime for a few moments, then shape it again into a ball. Repeat several times. If you keep kneading it, over time the slime won't be as sticky anymore.
Step 6. Store slime in a closed container when not in use
This type of slime is not very durable. So have fun while it's still soft. After 2 to 3 days, the slime will start to dry out and should be thrown away.
Method 4 of 5: Using Baking Soda and Contact Lens Solution
Step 1. Pour 120 ml of white glue into a bowl
Do not use clear glue as they are not the same and will not produce the same type of slime.
Step 2. Add 7.5 g of baking soda and stir
Use a spoon or rubber spatula to stir. When you add baking soda, the glue will start to thicken and this is a normal reaction.
Step 3. Add 2 to 3 drops of food coloring to the mixture and stir again
This step is optional, but will result in more interesting slime. If you don't add dye, the slime will turn white.
Try adding some green food coloring for green slime, or 2 drops of yellow coloring and 1 drop of red coloring for orange slime
Step 4. Mix 15 ml of contact lens saline solution
Pour 15 ml of contact lens saline solution into a bowl and stir. This step will mix all the ingredients together and make slime. Keep stirring until the mixture no longer sticks to the bowl.
Make sure you use a contact lens saline solution that contains "boric acid"
Step 5. Knead the slime for a few minutes so it doesn't stick too much
Remove the slime from the bowl. Knead by pulling the slime, then shape it into a ball again. Keep doing this for a few minutes. When kneading, the stickiness of the slime will gradually decrease.
Step 6. Add more contact lens saline solution if needed
If the slime still feels too sticky, add 38 ml of contact lens solution, and keep kneading.
Step 7. Store the slime in an airtight container after you finish playing
This type of slime doesn't last very long. So, play while the conditions are still good! After 2 to 3 days, the slime will start to harden and dry out. If that happens, the slime should be thrown away.
Tips: Use plastic container with airtight lid or clip plastic bag to store slime. Make sure you give label on the container or plastic bag and put it in a certain place so it won't be mistaken for food. Slime should not be eaten!
Method 5 of 5: Using Sand and Contact Lens Solution
Step 1. Pour 120 ml of white glue into a bowl
Do not use ordinary white glue for this purpose. The materials used are different so the resulting slime is not suitable.
This recipe is more like slime or putty. The result is not the same as kinetic sand or moon sand
Step 2. Add 4 grams of baking soda to the slime, then stir
Keep stirring until the baking soda is completely mixed with the glue. You can use a rubber spatula or spoon for this step.
Step 3. Mix 47g of colored toy sand
Purchase a bottle of colored toy sand in the children's section of the craft store. Add 47 grams to the bowl. Stir all ingredients until well blended.
- Colored sand can also be found in the flower section of the craft shop.
- Colored aquarium sand from an aquarium or pet store will also work.
Step 4. Add 15 ml of contact lens saline solution to the slime, then stir
Pour 15 ml of contact lens saline solution into a bowl. Stir until all ingredients are evenly mixed. Keep stirring until the slime no longer sticks to the bowl.
Use contact lens saline solution that contains "boric acid". Check the ingredients listed on the bottle label
Step 5. Knead the slime, then add more contact lens solution if desired
Remove the slime from the bowl. Pull it with your finger, then shape it back into a ball. Do this several times until the slime is not so sticky anymore. If the slime still feels too sticky, add 7.5 ml of contact lens saline solution, and knead again.
Step 6. Make several different colored slimes, then mix them for a unique effect
Repeat the same process for each different color. Once you've made all the slime colors you like, you can mix them into large slime balls. The colors will mix and form a stroke effect like the color of the galaxy.
Step 7. Store slime in a closed container when not in use
As with other items, this type of slime will not last forever. After a while the slime will dry up, especially if you play it often. When the slime starts to dry and harden, it's time to throw it away and make a new one.
