Sleeping better in the bedroom and less clutter in the closet are two benefits of knowing how to fold bed linen properly. Soft and fresh sheets are more comfortable for most people than wrinkled and wrinkled sheets. Properly folded sheets take up less space in cupboards and drawers, and look tidier. It's important to learn how to fold bed linen, including easy-to-adjust flat sheets and more complicated fitted sheets (with rubber ends).

Step

Method 1 of 3: Folding Pas Bed Sheets

Step 1. Remove the fitted sheet from the dryer

Fitted sheets are sheets with elastic bands around the edges that will tightly wrap the mattress.

Step 2. Turn the sheet over so the inside is outside

Stand holding the sheet in front of you. You will place your hands on the 2 adjacent corners (the rubberized side) on one of the shorter sides of the sheet (the wide side), as you will be folding these corners together.

Step 3. Bring your hands together

Fold the corner of the sheet in your right hand over the corner in your left.

Step 4. Fold the other corner

Keep holding the 2 corners of the sheet fit in your left hand. Take your right hand and grasp the corner hanging in front. Lift the corner and fold up the 2 corners in your left hand. The visible angle will be in an inverted position.

Now take the last corner and fold up the other 3 corners in your left hand

Step 5. Place the folded fitted sheet onto a flat surface and straighten it

Fold the 2 ends inward so that the area with the elastic is above the sheet. Fold the sides up so the rubberized edges are hidden, then continue folding so that it becomes a rectangle of the size you want.

Iron the sheets folded if needed

Method 2 of 3: Folding Sheets Flat

Step 1. Hold the sheet flat at the top 2 corners, lengthwise

Your arms may not be long enough to stretch them straight, in which case you can ask someone else for help, or you can place a sheet on the floor, so you can flatten them out.

Step 2. Fold the sheet in half

You will want to fold it so that adjacent corners are paired and you will fold on the long side. Smooth the surface of the sheet after you fold it to prevent wrinkles from forming.

Step 3. Fold again

You will fold along the first fold, so you end up with a long, narrow rectangle. Refine.

Step 4. Make the final fold

You should really only need to fold your flat sheet 3 or 4 times, depending on the size of the sheet. This time you will fold the top down and bring the corners together. You can fold one more time, which will give you a more square fold of the sheet.

Method 3 of 3: Folding Pillowcases

Step 1. Hold the pillowcase in front of you

You'll want to fold it from the bottom (this will make the pillowcase less wrinkled), on the shorter side.

Step 2. Fold once on the shorter side

You will now have a rectangular shape, which you will need to smooth out.

Step 3. Fold it two more times

Smooth it after each time you fold it so the pillowcase doesn't wrinkle. You should end up with a pile of small rectangular folds.

Tips

  • Make a set of bed linen to make it easier to find in the closet. Place the fitted sheet and pillowcases in the flat sheet fold (top sheet).
  • Store bed linen on a closet or drawer shelf. The storage location should be dry and cool.
  • Remove the sheets from the dryer while they are still warm. Sheets fresh from the dryer have no wrinkles and do not require ironing. If you missed the end of the drying cycle and the sheets have cooled down, dampen/wet a washcloth and place them in the dryer. Dry the sheets and washcloths for 15 minutes to remove wrinkles.
  • When arranging the bed, place the top sheet with the decorative side facing down (upside down). It will reveal the beautiful side of the motif when the bed sheet is pulled down on the blanket.

Warning

  • Do not store folded sheets in plastic. Plastic can cause mold by trapping moisture.
  • Never put folded sheets in a cupboard or drawer while the sheets are still a little wet. Moisture can cause mold.
