How to Downgrade Minecraft: 7 Steps (with Pictures)

Every time Minecraft launches a new version, there will be many changes and features designed to improve the gameplay. However, you will run into problems if your favorite server requires an older version of Minecraft to connect. While it used to be difficult for you to downgrade Minecraft, now everything is easy on the latest version of Minecraft Launcher. This wikiHow teaches you how to downgrade Minecraft to an older version by creating a new profile in Minecraft Launcher.

Step 1. Launch Minecraft Launcher

Minecraft Launcher can be used to load older versions of Minecraft. This method works as long as you're using Minecraft 1.14.3 or later.

• If you have played games on this Launcher, first exit and restart the Launcher so you can switch to the old version.
• You won't be able to switch to an older version of Minecraft on the iPhone or Android mobile app.

Step 2. Click on Installations

This second tab is at the top of the Launcher.

Step 3. Click + New

It's in the top center of the Launcher. The "Create new installation" window will open. You must enable Historical Versions if you want to play the Alpha or Beta version of the game.

Step 4. Type the name of the installation in the "Name" field

For example, you can type the name of the server you want to connect to in this field.

Step 5. Select the desired version in the "Version" menu

This option is to the right of the " Name " column. For example, if you are connected to a server that asks you to downgrade Minecraft to version 1.13.2, select 1.13.2 on the menu.

If you want to set the resolution for a new installation, enter the dimensions into the empty " Resolution " field

Step 6. Select the desired directory in the "Game Directory" menu

If the options are left as is (Use default directory), Minecraft will save the old version data in the default directory. However, if you want to play games older than version 1.6, you'll need to select a different folder. Select the desired directory by clicking Browse.

Step 7. Click the Create button

It's in the lower right corner. The old version of the game will be added to your install list.

To play an old version of Minecraft, click Play at the top of the Launcher which will take you to the main screen. Next, select the version you want to play in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the screen, then click the button Play big green.
