This wikiHow teaches you how to send files via Facebook Messenger or the Facebook.com website.

Method 1 of 3: Using Facebook Messenger on a Phone or Tablet
Step 1. Open Facebook Messenger
This app is marked with a blue chat bubble icon with a white lightning bolt which is usually displayed on the home screen (iPhone/iPad) or app drawer (Android).
Step 2. Select a contact
Touch the name of the contact you want to send the file to. A chat window with the relevant contact will be opened.
You can search for the last contacted contact by touching the tab “ Home ” (“Primary”), or select a new contact by touching the tab “ People " ("Friend").
Step 3. Submit a photo
If you want to send a photo from your device's gallery, tap the mountain icon with the moon above the square pad, then tap the photo you want to send.
Step 4. Send another type of file
Touch the plus sign icon (“ + ”) at the bottom of the screen to see all the available options, then select the type of file you want to send. Follow the on-screen instructions to send the file.
Method 2 of 3: Using the Messenger.com Site on a Computer
Step 1. Visit www.messenger.com via a web browser
You need to use a computer to follow this method.
Step 2. Sign in to Messenger
If prompted, type a username and password to log into the account.
Step 3. Select a contact
Click the name of the user you want to send the file to on the left side of the page.
Step 4. Click the “File” icon (file icon)
This icon looks like two sheets of paper stacked on top of each other in the chat window.
Step 5. Select the files you want to send
In the window that opens, locate the file you want to send, then click once to select it.
To select multiple files at once, press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (macOS) while clicking each file you want
Step 6. Click Open
The file will be sent to the recipient.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Facebook.com Site on a Computer
Step 1. Visit www.facebook.com via a web browser
Step 2. Log in to your Facebook account
Type in the account name in the column in the upper right corner of the screen and click “ Login " ("Enter").
Step 3. Select a contact in the “Chat” (“Chat”) section
You can click on a friend's name in the panel on the right side of the Facebook page.
Step 4. Click the paperclip icon
This icon is the second icon at the bottom right of the chat window.
Step 5. Select the file
Go to the folder containing the file, click the file once to select it, and select “ Open ”.
To select multiple files at once, hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Command (macOS) while clicking each file
Step 6. Press Enter. key (Windows) or Return to send file.
After a while, your friend will be able to see the file that was sent. He can double-click the file name to view it.
