Instagram is an iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad application that allows users to take or select photos from their devices and upload them to various social networks and services. The app also provides the ability to apply filters and effects to photos as well as location info and other metadata. The service also provides an API for developers interested in integrating data from Instagram into their apps. This article will show you how to sign up for the Instagram API.
Step
Step 1. Create an Instagram account
If you don't have an Instagram account yet, download the Instagram app in the App Store on your iOS device (iPhone, iPod, iPad) or on Google Play for Android devices.
- After installing the app, open Instagram on your device.
- Tap the Sign up button at the bottom left of the screen to start the account creation process.
Step 2. Sign up as a developer
Go to the Instagram developer login page and login using the username and password associated with your account.
Step 3. Fill in the form
Enter your site's URL, phone number, and a description of how you want to use the Instagram API or what you want to do with it.
Step 4. Accept the terms
Follow the link called Terms of Use and Brand Guidelines, then click the checkbox indicating that you accept the API terms. Click the Sign up button to complete the process.
Step 5. Register your application
Instagram will assign OAuth client_id and client_secret to each of your apps.
