Generally Google is set as the front page in Chrome. However, you can change it back if your front page has changed. Or, you can also make Google as the opening page as well as the front page. Here are the Google settings you need to know as your choice for both.

Method 1 of 3: Setting Google As Homepage and Enabling Home Button
Step 1. Click the Chrome icon menu
A drop-down menu will appear.
The menu icon is a small button with three horizontal lines. You'll find it in the upper-right corner of your browser screen, just below the "x"
Step 2. Select Settings from the drop-down list
After clicking this option, the "Settings" page will open in a new tab.
If you select this option with a blank page or blank tab currently open, the "Settings" page will open in the current tab
Step 3. Check the Show Home button
This option appears under the "Appearance" section of the "Settings" page.
By clicking this box, a "Home" icon will automatically appear to the left of the address box
Step 4. Click the Change link next to the front page URL, if necessary
Usually Google will be set as the front page. But if not, select the Change option that appears on the right side of the front page of the URL.
- A separate "Home Page" dialog box will appear when you do this.
- If Google is already set as the front page, no further action is required.
Step 5. Check Open this page
This is the second option available.
The first option which is "Use the New Tab page" will open a blank page as the front page
Step 6. Enter the Google URL
In the box next to "Open this page" enter:
Step 7. Click the OK button
Doing this will save the front page settings and close the dialog box.
You will return to the "Settings" page, but no additional actions need to be performed on this page
Method 2 of 3: Setting Google as Home Page
Step 1. Click the Chrome icon menu
Once clicked, a drop-down menu will appear and you can access various Chrome options.
The menu icon looks like a small button with three stacked horizontal lines. It's in the upper-right corner of your browser, below the "x"
Step 2. Select Settings from the drop-down list
clicking this option will cause the "Settings" page to open in a new tab.
If your current tab is a blank page, the "Settings" page will open in your current tab instead of the new one
Step 3. Check Open a specific page or set of pages
This option appears under "On startup" of the "Settings" page.
Other opening options are Open the New Tab page which will open a blank page after Chrome starts, and Continue where I left off will open the tab that remained open the last time you browsed
Step 4. Click the Set pages link
This option appears to the right of the "Open a specific page or set of pages" option.
Clicking on this link will open the "Startup pages" dialog box
Step 5. Enter the Google URL
Enter the URL into the text box labeled Add a new page.

Step 6. Click the OK button
Clicking this button will close the dialog box and save the startup page settings.
You will return to the "Settings" page, but no further action is required
Method 3 of 3: Setting Google as the General Opening Page with Google Open
Step 1. Click the Chrome icon menu
When Google's homepage is open, click on its icon to display a drop-down menu with various options.
- The menu icon is a small button with three horizontal lines. You'll find it under the "x" in the top right corner of your browser.
- Make sure that the Google start page is open. This method will only work if Google is currently open in your browser.
Step 2. Select Settings from the drop-down list
The "Settings" page will open in a new tab as a result.
Don't close Google tabs
Step 3. Check Open a specific page or set of pages
This option appears under the "On startup" section of the "Settings" page.
Other startup options include "Open the New Tab page" which will open a blank page after Chrome starts, and "Continue where I left off" which will open the tabs that remained open the last time you browsed
Step 4. Click the Set pages link
This option appears to the right of the "Open a specific page or set of pages" option.
Clicking on this link will open a separate "Startup pages" dialog box
Step 5. Click the Use current pages button
When you do this, a list of all currently open pages will appear in the "Startup pages" dialog box.
This list will show the website names and their site URLs
Step 6. Deselect the pages you don't want
Other currently open pages or tabs will appear in the list as well as on Google, and should not be selected.
- Hover over the far right of the dialog box, right next to the web page you want to delete. An "x" will appear.
- Click the "x" to delete the page.
- Continue deleting pages until only Google remains.
Step 7. Click the OK button
Doing this will save the startup page settings and close the "Startup pages" dialog box.
