Love the taste of garlic, but hate the smell? Here we present tips to get rid of the smell of garlic. Choose the tips that suit your condition.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Remove Garlic Smell from Hands
Step 1. Rub your hands with lime juice (or another citrus fruit), or spray the juice on your hands
Make your own citrus spray by mixing grated orange peel (lemon, lime, or mandarin) and hot water. Cool the mixture, then strain it and put it in a spray bottle
Step 2. Rub your hands against the stainless steel or iron rock
According to the theory, iron can react with sulfur, and neutralize the smell of garlic. However, not everyone can use this method.
Step 3. Use soap and stainless steel
Pour the soap into your hands, then use a metal spoon to rub it into your hands and between your fingers.
Method 2 of 4: Overcome Garlic-Smelling Breath
Step 1. Remember that the smell of garlic can linger in your lungs for 24-48 hours (1-2 days) after you eat it
Therefore, the solution to removing the smell of garlic is not as simple as brushing your teeth or gargling.
Step 2. Chew fresh parsley or mint leaves
Step 3. Drink green tea or cinnamon tea
Step 4. Drink homemade lemonade, or eat limes
Meyer limes are sweet enough to eat on their own. It is recommended that you drink homemade lemonade because ready-to-buy lemonades generally only contain a small amount of lemon juice.
Step 5. Rub a stainless steel spoon into your mouth
Make sure the spoon touches the entire surface of the mouth, from the tongue to the edges of the mouth. Flip the spoon, then rub it against the back of the tongue.
Method 3 of 4: Removing Garlic Smell from a Wooden Cutting Board
Step 1. Use dish soap
- Soak the cutting board in boiling water. Do not soak the cutting board for too long (or overnight) as it may bend.
- Pour dish soap onto a still wet cutting board.
- Scrub the entire surface of the cutting board with a brush or sandpaper.
- Rinse the cutting board with hot water, then pat dry. Once dry, a properly scrubbed cutting board will have no odor.
Step 2. Use salt or baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and lime
- Rinse your cutting board.
- Sprinkle salt or baking soda on the board.
- Use half a lime to rub salt onto the board.
- Rinse the cutting board, then dry it.
Method 4 of 4: Remove Garlic Smell from Home
Step 1. Open the windows of your house, then use air freshener
Turn on the fan if you have one.
