After spending time, effort, and money buying a pair of Yeezy shoes, do you still want to tie the laces like the regular shoes you've worn since kindergarten? Try to perfect your look by trying new things. You can use the same “factory knot” as when the shoe was taken out of the box, or go for a no-knot style. You can also use a “noose knot” which combines elements of a “factory knot” and a “bunny ear knot”.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Using Factory Default Knot
Step 1. Tie the shoelaces in such a way that the shoes are easy to put on and take off
Make a knot that's tight enough so that the shoe rests on your foot, but loose enough that you can get your foot in and out of the shoe without changing the position of the laces. This way, you can leave your shoes tied instead of re-tying them every time you put them on.
Ideally, you should make sure the laces extend 15 to 20 cm from each side of the last hole
Step 2. Spread both ends of the laces together over the shoe
Pinch the ends of the laces with your thumb and forefinger and lift both ends of the laces together over the shoe, then use your other thumb and two fingers to pinch the laces together just above the tongue.
The two shoelaces should be parallel to each other, not crossing each other
Step 3. Tie the shoelaces around the two fingers on the bottom
Use the upper hand to tie the shoelace stretched to the middle and index fingers of the lower hand. Wrap the laces around your arms – down and in front of the toe, then back and around the beginning.
Make the knot slightly loose so you can slide your fingers in and out easily
Step 4. Cross the two shoelaces onto the tie and pinch with your thumbs
Once you've wrapped the laces around the two fingers on the bottom hand, guide the loose ends of the laces toward the top of the tie. Pinch the end of the shoelace between the top knuckle of the thumb and the bottom knuckle of the index finger.
You should leave the shoelaces 5-8 cm long (at each end) hanging down
Step 5. Remove your fingers from the knot to create a circle
Use your other hand to remove your fingers from the laces, leaving a circle about 2.5 cm in diameter. Use your thumb and forefinger to pinch the string so the loop doesn't disappear.
Step 6. Fold the excess laces into the tie and thread the ends of the folds into the loop
Use your free hand to pinch the end of the shoelace to the area where the shoelace comes out of the loop. After that, thread the folds of the rope into the loop.
- Insert the fold into the circle from the bottom so that it comes out of the top of the circle and faces up.
- Make sure the end of the shoelace comes out of the loop and is under it. Pinch so that its position does not change.
Step 7. Tighten the first circle around the fold that will later become the new circle
Pull the end of the shoelace down while pulling the first loop up to tighten the new loop near the crease. You may have to do this process several times until the loop becomes a fairly tight knot near the crease.
- Once you've tucked the first loop into the loop of string, spread it apart to create a new, smaller loop over the knot you made.
- This “knot with a loop on top” looks very similar, if not exactly the same, to the knot there when you first take your Yeezy shoe out of its packaging.
Step 8. Adjust the laces as necessary to complete your look
If the laces are a little too loose between the knot you made and the top of the eyelet, you can loosen the laces down to balance it out. If you want, you can leave the top of the rope loose, while the bottom is tightened. Create your own look!
To untie this knot, simply pull the loop so that the end of the shoelace goes up and over the knot, then untie the knot completely
Method 2 of 3: Making the Noose Knot
Step 1. Make the initial knot as if you were tying shoelaces as usual
Cross one rope over the other, then thread one end of the rope into the gap under the cross. Pull the knot until it fits tightly against the tongue of the shoe. After that, twist one end of the shoelace so that it becomes an upright loop – much like a “rabbit ear”.
The “noose knot” is an interesting option between the standard shoe tying method and the “factory knot” that comes in when the Yeezy is out of the box. The noose knot starts in the same way as a regular shoe tie, but ends up being a "factory knot"
Step 2. Begin tying the loose shoelaces around the hoop, around the center
Tie the string to the midpoint of the first circle.
After that, you will have a circle above the knot that is half the size of the first circle
Step 3. Continue tying the rope around the starting loop, going downhill
Tie the remaining shoelaces into the initial loop, making sure each knot is tight. Continue tying down until you touch the bottom of the loop which is the starting knot – leave enough room to slip the end of the shoelace between the bottom knot and the starting knot.
Tie the rope at least 4 times around the circle. The more knots you make around the circle, the stronger the knot you will make
Step 4. Insert the untied part of the rope into the gap at the bottom
There should be a small opening above the starting knot, which is under the part of the string that is threaded through the loop and tied all the way down. Insert the end of the shoelace into the gap and pull it through.
Don't pull the ends too tight for now
Step 5. Tighten the knot by pulling the free part of the rope and loop over the tied part
Pull on the top, making sure that the loop is slightly exposed, and pull it together with the end of the shoelace that was inserted into the gap under the tie with your other hand.
- You can adjust the size of the upper loop or the length of the remaining end of the laces when they are tightened to get the look you want.
- To untie this knot, pull the free end of the rope through the gap, then untie the entire knot.
Method 3 of 3: Stylish without tying your shoelaces
Step 1. Remove the shoelace from the last hole
Assuming your laces are still attached, simply pull each end of the laces through the holes in the tongue side of the shoe. You will cross it under the tongue of the shoe and thread it back through the holes.
If you need to tie your shoelaces first, there are a variety of cross-lacing and straight-lacing styles to choose from
Step 2. Cross the ends of the laces under the tongue of the shoe, leaving extra space
Thread the ends of the laces into the top of the tongue and cross them over each other. Instead of pulling it tight against the underside of the tongue, leave the laces loose so that you only have a few inches of laces left on either side of the tongue.
The length of the laces should be about 8-10 cm on both sides of the shoe
Step 3. Complete the laces to the last hole
Insert each end of the shoelace into the hole on the same side. Let the end of the shoelace hang freely from the last hole.
- Crossing the laces under the tongue will reduce the amount of laces hanging from the last hole so you don't trip over the laces yourself!
- If you want to leave longer or shorter laces, simply loosen or tighten the crossed laces under the tongue as necessary.
- When wearing shoes, your feet will hold the laces crossed loosely under the tongue of the shoe.
Step 4. Loosely tie the straps for an extra casual look
Tie the rope in the style of your choice, then loosen each section of the knot, starting from the top to the bottom. Make a few adjustments here and there until each piece of rope looks slack. Leave the shoelaces untied.
- Shoelaces should hang 6 cm from each eyelet.
- Think of your shoes as sandals that slip off your feet easily and don't expect them to come off when you run!
Tips
- If your shoes aren't laced, simply thread the laces into the holes on the sides of the shoes to tie them in the usual criss-cross pattern. Alternatively, you can try one of several methods for creating row-style ties that fit parallel to each set of eyelets.
- If you just want to make a simple knot that keeps the shoe firmly on your foot, just use a traditional shoe knot that you may have learned as a child. If you want to give it a different style, try using a surgical knot, one-handed knot, or another variation of the traditional shoe knot.
- Pair Yeezy shoes with a cool outfit to complete the look. Pencil jeans and a printed T-shirt complement the Yeezy shoes exemplified by Kanye West, but you can also wear shorts or leggings.
- While struggling with this, make sure you also keep your personal Yeezy shoes clean!!
