Quick Switch (Fast Switch) in the game Counter-Strike allows you to instantly select a weapon when pressing the appropriate number keys on the keyboard without having to confirm the selection. This feature can be enabled from the developer console, and in the menus of some versions. In Counter-Strike: Global Operations (CS:GO), this feature is enabled from the start and cannot be turned off.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Activating the Console
Step 1. Activate the developer console
This console allows you to enter commands to change the game, including quick change commands. By default (default), the console is disabled.
- CS:GO – Open the Options menu and select "Game Settings". Set "Enable Developer Console" to "Yes". Note: Quick Switch is enabled from the start in CS:GO and cannot be disabled.
- CS: Source – Open the Options menu and select "Advanced". Check the "Enable developer console (~)" box. You can also check the " Fast weapon switch " on this screen to activate it without using a console command.
Step 2. Press the button
~ to open the console.
You don't need to be in the game to open the console.
This method is known to cause problems on keyboards that use the French layout. If you can't open your console and your keyboard is in French, change the layout while playing
Step 3. Force the console if it won't work
You need to force the console in the game shortcut if it won't show up:
- Right-click on the game in the Steam library and select "Properties".
- Click "Set Launch Options" in the "General" label.
- Type -console in the text box. The console will appear when the game starts.
Part 2 of 2: Turn on Quick Switch
Step 1. Open the console if it doesn't appear
If you didn't open the console in the previous section, press ~ to open it now. The console will appear in a small window in Counter-Strike.
You don't need to be in the game to enable quick change, but it helps to check
Step 2. Type
hud_fastswitch 1 and press Enter.
This step activates the quick change feature so that you immediately draw the selected weapon after pressing the appropriate button.
Remember, CS:GO has this feature enabled from the start, and it can't be disabled. You don't need to enter a quick replace command when playing CS:GO
Step 3. Do the test
Press one of the number keys assigned as a weapon shortcut (usually 1-4). The weapon will be immediately withdrawn without confirmation with a click. If you have more than one grenade, you still have to choose which one to use.
Step 4. Turn off the feature if you don't like it
If you're not getting used to using quick replace, turn it off using the same command:
Open a console and type hud_fastswitch 0 to turn off fast switch
Step 5. Rotate the mouse wheel for a quick weapon change
Many players feel that using the mouse wheel to scroll through the three weapons is a waste of time in combat. You can set the mouse wheel scroll up as a primary weapon and scroll down as a secondary weapon so you can switch weapons in the middle of a fight without moving your finger.:
- Open the console by pressing ~.
- Type bind wheelup slot1 and press Enter so scrolling the mouse wheel up will automatically switch your weapon to your main weapon.
- Type bind wheeldown slot2 and press Enter so scrolling the mouse wheel down will automatically switch weapons to pistols.
Tips
- In Counter Strike Source, this option can be checked under the advanced option in the keyboard configuration menu.
- If you have more than one type of grenade, you cannot switch to a grenade automatically by simply pressing the 4 button. And you still have to confirm and select one manually.
- There is no such thing as " no-animation reload ". Switching weapons after shooting will cancel the feedback animation, but you'll still have to wait for the regular animation time before you can wait again.
