This wikiHow teaches you how to update the Google Chrome browser on computers and mobile devices. While Google Chrome updates are generally installed automatically, you can update the browser yourself on your mobile device via the device's app store. For the desktop version of the Chrome browser, you can visit the "About Google Chrome" page to manually update the browser.

Method 1 of 3: For Desktop Computers
Step 1. Open Google Chrome
These apps are marked by green, red, yellow, and blue circular icons.
Step 2. Click the button
It's in the upper-right corner of the Chrome window. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
- This icon will appear in green, yellow, or red when an update is available.
- In older versions of Chrome browser, the button looks more like a “ ☰ ”.
Step 3. Select Help
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu. Once selected, a pop-out window will be displayed.
If you see the option " Google Chrome Updates ” at the top of the menu, click the option.
Step 4. Click About Google Chrome
It's at the top of the pop-out window.
Step 5. Wait for the Google Chrome browser to finish updating
The update process usually takes (at most) a few minutes.
If you see the message " Google Chrome is up to date ", your browser does not need to be updated at this time
Step 6. Restart Google Chrome
You can restart the browser by clicking the “ Relaunch ” that is displayed after the update is complete. You can also close the browser window and reopen the program. Now, the browser is running in the latest version.
You can check your browser's status by revisiting the "About Google Chrome" page and looking for the "Google Chrome is up to date" message on the left side of the page
Method 2 of 3: For iPhone
Step 1. Open the App Store app on iPhone
This app is marked by a white “A” icon formed from a stationery on a light blue background. Usually, you can find the App Store icon on your device's home screen.
Step 2. Touch the Updates. button
It's in the bottom center of the screen.
Step 3. Touch the UPDATE button which is next to Chrome
In the "Pending Updates" section at the top of the page, you can see the Chrome icon. Knob " UPDATE ” will be displayed to the right of it.
If you don't see the Chrome icon in the " Pending Updates " section, your device is already running the latest version of Chrome
Step 4. Enter your Apple ID password if prompted
After that, Google Chrome will be updated.
If you're not prompted to enter your Apple ID, Google Chrome will update immediately
Method 3 of 3: For Android Devices
Step 1. Open Google Play Store
This app is marked by colorful triangles on a white background.
Step 2. Touch the button
It's in the top-left corner of the screen.
Step 3. Touch My apps & games
It's in the pop-out menu that appears on the left side of the screen.
Step 4. Touch the Chrome icon
This icon resembles a green, yellow, blue, and red circle. You can see the icon in the "Updates" section. Once touched, Chrome will start updating.
