The wilderness and icy lands that can be explored in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are where many secrets are buried. The most famous mystical secret is probably a group of werewolves, more commonly known as The Companions. While joining the group gives you the ability to transform into a werewolf at night, it does have some drawbacks. If these flaws make the game unpleasant, you can cure Lycanthropy. There are two ways to heal Lycanthropy, namely completing the quest (tasks that can be completed by characters) The Companions and becoming a Vampire Lord.

Step

Method 1 of 2: Healing Lycanthropy by Completing The Companions Quest

Step 1. Activate the radiant quest named "Purity"

After completing the "Glory of the Dead" quest, talk to Farkas or Vilkas to get the quest as usual. You can find both characters in his bedroom in Jorrvaskr's basement. When they met them, they looked confused. Try asking them what they are thinking.

  • They will explain that they want to make the same decision as Kodiak, which is to cure Lycanthropy. Help them.
  • Radiant quests are given by Vilkas or Farkas when your character requests The Companions job. Almost all of these quests can be repeated over and over again to earn money. However, after completing The Companions' last main quest, you cannot get the "Purity" quest.

Step 2. Get the Glenmoril Witch Head

If you have obtained Glenmoril Witch Head from the previous quest, Vilkas and Farkasn will ask you to go to Ysgramor's Tomb (read the next step). If you don't have one, they will help you get the item.

  • Use Fast Travel to go to Glenmoril Coven. After completing the "Blood's Honor" quest, you can access Glenmoril Coven on the map. The place is to the northwest of Falkreath.
  • Enter Glenmoril Coven and you'll find five Glenmoril Witches. Kill them and examine their corpses to retrieve two heads (one head for the quest giver and the rest for you).

Step 3. Go to Ysgramor's Tomb

You will go to Ysgramor's Tomb with the quest giver. To go to that place, you can use Fast Travel or follow the quest marker on the compass (compass). Ysgramor's Tomb is a large fortress located in the northern part of Skyrim and close to Winterhold. The icon of the place is shaped like a crown that has three pointed ends covered with a shield.

  • To reach Ysgramor's Tomb from Winterhold, head north and across the strait. The place is on the edge of a small island.
  • If you go to Ysgramor's Tomb from Whiterun, it will take you longer to get there. Ysgramor's Tomb is northeast of Whiterun. After exiting Whiterun, pass through the city wall to the north of Whiterun and keep walking north. You will cross many mountains. Keep going until you reach Dawnstar. Once in the city, walk northeast and across the strait to reach the edge of the island where Ysgramor's Tomb is located.

Step 4. Enter Ysgramor's Tomb

Open the door of Ysgramor's Tomb and descend the stone steps. Pass the two torches near the entrance and walk forward until you reach a wooden spiral staircase. The stairs will take you further into the cemetery.

Go down the floor until you reach the large room where the Flame of the Harbinger is. The Flame of the Harbinger is a blue flame that burns in the center of the room

Step 6. Kill the Wolf Spirit

After lighting the fire, a wolf spirit will appear on the altar and start attacking you. Defeat the enemy to heal the Lycanthropy suffered by the quest giver.

  • The Wolf Spirit behaves like the wolves you meet in the wild. You can use Fireball or bow to defeat him easily.
  • The Wolf Spirit was not a difficult foe to defeat. The main strength of this enemy is its high running speed. As such, you should keep your distance from him. However, if you prefer close combat, Two-Handed type weapons, such as the Warhammer and Greatsword, can kill Wolf Spirits quickly.

Step 7. Talk to the quest giver (Farkas or Vilkas)

After defeating the Wolf Spirit, you will be asked to speak to the quest giver. It will ask you if you successfully completed the quest. After that, he will explain that now he feels like a real soldier.

You will complete the quest " Purity " after talking to the quest giver

Approach the Flame of the Harbinger and activate it by pressing the button that appears on the screen. Text box containing the text " Cast the witch's head into the flames to cure your lycanthropy forever? " will appear. Select "Yes" (note that this effect is permanent).

  • Another Wolf Spirit will emerge from the fire. You must defeat the enemy to heal yourself. Use the same method you used to defeat the first Wolf Spirit.
  • After defeating the Wolf Spirit, you will recover from Lycanthropy.

Method 2 of 2: Healing Lycanthropy by Completing the Dawnguard Quest

Step 1. Get the DLC (downloadable content) called Dawnguard

If you don't want to cure Lycanthropy by completing the Ysgramor's Tomb quest, the Dawnguard DLC (you can buy it on Steam or your local game store or online) gives you three chances to cure this disease.

  • Dawnguard's story centers on an ancient battle between vampires and vampire hunters. When playing the DLC, you have to side with vampires or vampire hunters. If you side with a vampire, you will turn into a Vampire Lord. Vampire Lord is a more powerful version of vampire.
  • Turning into a Vampire Lord will cure Lycanthropy because you can't be a werewolf and a vampire at the same time.

Step 2. Receive Lord Harkon's gift

You will get a chance to become a Vampire Lord when following the "Bloodline" quest. This quest is one of the earliest quests in Dawnguard.

  • After completing the "Awakening" quest, Serana will ask you to take him to Castle Volkihar. It was the home of Skyrim's first vampire. There are two ways to reach Castle Volkihar: using the services of a Ferryman (people who take passengers by boat) or using a boat at the Icewater jetty. Icewater jetty is a small harbor near Northwatch Keep. The ship will take you to Castle Volkihar.
  • Go down the hill to the clothes bridge that leads to Castle Volkihar. The vampires in the palace will suspect you. However, they will let you in after meeting Serana.
  • Enter Castle Volkihal to find Serana's father. When Serana has met her father, Lord Harkon will come to you and give you two choices: join the vampire Volkihar or work with Dawnguard. If you decide to join the vampire Volkihar, you will turn into a Vampire Lord. If you decide to work with Dawnguard, you cannot revisit Castle Volkihar.
  • Tell Lord Harkon that you want to become a Vampire Lord. After that, he would explain that the process of transforming into a Vampire Lord would cure Lycanthropy. If you become a Vampire Lord, you will be hostile to Dawnguard. Thus, soldiers will ambush you at random.

Step 3. Enlist Serana's help to transform yourself into a Vampire Lord

If you don't accept Lord Harkon's offer to become a Vampire Lord, you will get another chance when doing the "Chasing Echoes" quest. This quest is the sixth quest in the main Dawnguard quest. In the quest, you and Serana must travel to Soul Cairn, an alternate reality where lost spirits roam.

  • Soul Cairn is in the secret room of Castle Volkihar. Serana will guide you how to access the place. People who are still alive cannot enter Soul Cairn. Therefore, Serana will offer to turn you into a Vampire Lord.
  • Select the option "Turn me into a vampire". After that, Serana will bite you and you will faint. After a while, you will wake up and turn into a Vampire Lord. After becoming a Vampire Lord, you will recover from Lycanthropy.
  • If you refuse Serana's offer, your spirit will be stored in the Soul Gem. If you are in Soul Cairn in such a state, your Health, Stamina, and Magicka will decrease rapidly.

Step 4. Transform into Vampire Lord after completing the Dawnguard quest

After completing Dawnguard's final quest called " Kindred Judgment ", you can ask Serana to turn you into a Vampire Lord whenever you want.

  • You can meet Serana at Castle Volkihar. Usually he was in the lobby of Castle Volkihar. Approach him and press the appropriate button to interact with him. If you are not yet a Vampire Lord, Serana will offer to turn you into a Vampire Lord. Accept the offer.
  • After being bitten by Serana, you will faint. Once conscious, you will turn into a Vampire Lord and the Lycanthropy you suffer will be healed.
  • Note that if you ask Serana to heal her Vampirism, she cannot turn you into a Vampire Lord.
