Debit cards are very convenient, but checking the balance can be difficult. When you want to check your debit card balance, always use the official source of the card issuer. You can do this by visiting the bank directly, the bank's official website, or using the bank's official app. Also, check the numbers that can be called or messaged via the internet to receive your balance. Finally, you can also get a balance through merchants (merchants) or ATMs that are recognized by the card issuer.

Method 1 of 2: Checking Bank Debit Card
Step 1. Log in to the bank site
Go to the bank's official website. If not, you will need to link your account information to your user ID and password. Use both to log into the site. Your account summary will appear immediately on the page.
Step 2. Download the banking app
Most banks now have official applications so that users can do banking activities while traveling. For example, Bank CIMB Niaga has Go Mobile (now Octo Mobile). Log in to the app using the same user ID and password to log in to the site, or register an account if you don't already have one.
Step 3. Check the account balance at the ATM
You can use the bank's official ATM, or ATM Bersama if your bank is part of the system. Just insert the card into the machine, enter the PIN number, and go to the balance information option.
All ATMs that are not affiliated with your bank may charge a usage fee
Step 4. Register alert SMS
Many banks can send SMS regarding your account information, such as deposits and withdrawals. You need to log into your account via the bank's website or app, then sign up for messaging. Follow the guide to view your bank balance.
- Many banks also allow you to redirect these alerts to an email address instead of an SMS.
- When using SMS, the tariff charged is the same as the usual SMS fee.
Step 5. Visit the bank teller
When visiting the bank, the teller will be able to help you. Ask him for a statement of your balance or account. He will provide detailed information on your account balance which is usually emailed once a month.

Check the bank's official website or email to find the bank's customer service number. Banks can have automated systems so you just need to follow a guide to find out your account balance. However, usually the system also tells you to press 0 if you want to talk to a bank representative.

Method 2 of 2: Checking Prepaid Debit Card
Step 1. Go to the card issuer's site
In Indonesia, debit cards are still only issued by banks. Overseas, several large business units issue debit cards for their customers. If you have one, be sure to visit the card issuer's official website. For example, go to the Walmart website if you have the card. Log in to check your balance. You will need to register the card by entering the card number and security code.
Usually, the security code consists of six digits on the back of the card under the security strip that must be scratched or peeled off. This card number consists of 16 digits on the front and back of the card
Step 2. Use the card at an affiliated merchant
You can quickly check your card balance on the go by using it where you can use it. For example, if you have a VISA prepaid debit card, the cashier at a place that accepts VISA can also show your balance when the card is scanned.
Step 3. Log in to the card issuer's mobile app
Some overseas nonbank debit card issuers, most of which are large retail stores and credit companies, have mobile apps. For example, Walmart has a Walmart Moneycard and Bluebird by American Express has a Bluebird mobile app. Use this app to register the card and log in using the selected user ID and password.
Step 4. Send an SMS message to the card issuer
Some card issuers allow you to send an SMS after registering your phone to a debit card account. For example, send an SMS containing the BAL followed by the last four digits of your card to 96411 to check your Walmart card balance. Look for the SMS option on the card issuer's official website.
Remember, you are still charged SMS and mobile data rates
