The white canvas shoes are comfortable to wear, simple in design, and also look beautiful. Unfortunately, these shoes are very easy to get dirty and absorb stains, because they are made of cotton. But don't throw away your shoes just because they're a little dirty! You just need to clean it a little so that any stains are gone.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Hand Wash
Step 1. Dry off any mud or dirt before cleaning your shoes
Once dry, pat the sole of the shoe to clean it. Use an old toothbrush to scrape out any larger debris that remains between the bases.
Step 2. Untie the shoelaces
Put it in a container of water that is spiked with a little detergent, then soak.
You can also buy new shoelaces to save energy. Set aside the old rope to use as craft material or throw it away
Step 3. Clean the sole of the shoe
Make a solution of water and baking soda in equal parts in a small bowl. Dip a toothbrush in it and gently rub the paste solution into the sole of the shoe. Then wipe clean.
Step 4. Make a detergent solution
Put a few drops of ordinary detergent into a basin of cold water. Stir until dissolved.
Step 5. Dip the toothbrush in the solution
Start cleaning your shoes in circular motions from the outside of the stain to the inside.
- Use an electric toothbrush because it will save you energy.
- Rinse and repeat until the canvas is clean. When you reach your desired level of cleanliness, rinse thoroughly with more water to remove any soap residue. Do it carefully until the shoes are completely clean of soap because the remaining soap residue can stain the shoes. Do the same for the other shoe.
- When rinsing, be careful not to let water get into the shoes.
Step 6. Dry your shoes
Place it in a well-ventilated area and allow it to be exposed to the wind and dry. Drying them in the sun is an effective way to dry your shoes.
- To keep the shoe in good shape while drying, make a ball out of patchwork or paper towels and insert it into the shoe.
- Make sure the shoes are completely dry before you put them on.
Step 7. Brush the laces and rinse
Hang it to dry. After the shoes and laces have been washed, wait for them to dry completely. Then, you can enjoy these almost new looking shoes.
Method 2 of 2: Using the Washing Machine
Step 1. Dry off any mud and dirt before washing your shoes
Once dry, pat the sole of the shoe to clean it. Use an old toothbrush to scrape out any larger debris that remains between the soles of your shoes.
This preparation makes stain removal and washing easier
Step 2. Clean the sole of the shoe
Make an equal amount of water and baking soda in a small bowl. Dip a toothbrush in it and gently rub the paste solution into the sole of the shoe. Then wipe clean.
Step 3. Put the shoes in the washing machine
Start the engine on a gentle rotation and use cold water.
Step 4. Add mild detergent
Use half of the amount for normal washing. Add detergent when the machine is half full of water.
Step 5. Put the shoes in when the washer is three-quarters full
Do the washing process and then remove the shoes when finished.
Step 6. Air dry the shoes
Do not place shoes in the dryer or directly in front of the air vents. This will cause shrinkage or distortion of the shape of the shoe. Put it out in the open to dry it.
Step 7. Enjoy shoes that look as white as their original color
Tips
For stubborn stains, such as oil or grass stains, use a regular pre-treatment product before a normal wash. Follow the instructions listed on the product. Make sure you test beforehand on a small piece of the part to be washed before using it fully. Most stain removal products require 5-10 minutes to soak. Rinse the shoes from the stain remover solution and then wash them by hand or in the washing machine
Warning
- Do not use bleach on shoes, even if they are white. This will cause a change in the color of the shoe material so that it becomes yellowish.
- Do not put your shoes in the dryer. This will deform the shoe and cause the glue to stick to the base.
