Part 2 of 3: Learning How to Play
Step 1. Learn the basic principles of the game
Some of the main gameplay aspects that you should understand before playing this game include:
- Objective - The objective (objective) on most League maps is to destroy the enemy base (which is called "Nexus" in this game).
-
Enemies - There are 2 main types of enemies (enemy) in this game: minions, which are computer controlled characters, and champions, which are player controlled characters.
- There are also turrets, which are enemies that attack automatically, and monsters that appear on the map.
- Killing monsters will give your team a bonus (in a short time).
- Champion - Champions must be purchased with in-game money, although there are some champions that new players can use for free every week.
- Lane - Lane is a path on the map. There are usually 3 lanes-upper, middle, and lower-and a Jungle (forest) section that occupies the space between the trails. Champions are generally in one lane at the start of the game.
-
XP - Experience or XP (experience) is earned by killing champions, turrets, minions, monsters, and so on, and completing missions in the game. XP is used to increase the character's abilities. You can upgrade your character's abilities up to level 18 in the game.
All levels will be reset if you start a new game
Step 2. Understand the different types of champions
Each champion has a different role. There are 6 main types of champions in the game:
- Mage or APC - Long range attack. Low health and defense, high damage.
- Marksman or ADC - Long range attack without magic. Low health and defense, high damage.
- Tank - Melee attack. High health and defense, low damage.
- Fighter - Melee attack. Health, defense and damage are balanced.
- Supporters - Attacks and stats vary. Not playing a role in battle, for example as a support spellcaster.
- Assassin - Varied attacks. Low health and defense, high mobility and damage.
Step 3. Find out how to win the game
You will win if you can destroy the opposing team's Nexus. Victory in League of Legends is not based on more lives that can be killed when compared to other teams. The main strategy used to win LoL games is controlling the objectives and their execution. This means, a successful player might only kill a few champions while controlling points on the map or focus on breeding AI enemies to earn XP, gold and bonus points.
Step 4. Take advantage of the minions
By killing minions, you can earn gold, which can be used to buy consumables and weapons in the team's Store.
An important component of League of Legends is resource destruction, which can be done by killing enemy minions while protecting your own minions from enemy attacks. This keeps your level up, and the enemy team's level stays low
Step 5. Focus on destroying structures instead of killing champions
Destroying turrets and inhibitors (a type of barracks) will weaken the enemy team's defenses, making it easier for you to access and destroy enemy Nexus. Hunting down enemy champions does look useful for a team (and it does in some cases), but the main goal at the start is to destroy as many enemy structures as possible.
Destroying enemy inhibitors also makes your inhibitors produce super minions, which are AI characters that have high health and damage that can be used to annoy the enemy team at times
Step 6. Support your team with various items and buffs
Some items, such as Wards (increases the team's ability to see greater distances), will give the team an advantage over the enemy. Likewise if you add non-offensive abilities to the team. Using this ability to support teammates is the key to success.
By killing forest monsters anywhere, your entire team will get a buff, although the type will vary depending on the monster killed. For example, killing a giant frog monster will deal poison damage to all attacks made by a teammate in the allotted time
Step 7. Pay attention to your health
If you have a healing item, you can heal yourself when your health drops dramatically while in battle or after doing battle.
If you don't have a healing item, you may have to teleport to the spawning area when it's safe. You can do this by pressing the B button
Step 8. Communicate with the team
There is an in-game chat field that you can use to tell the team where the enemy champions are and what they're doing. While you don't need to update your information all the time, make sure to always pay attention to the normal aspects of combat, and report any unusual occurrences.
Communicate in positive and polite language. The use of negative and disrespectful language violates the code of ethics in the League of Legends game
Step 9. Play your part
Perhaps the most important aspect of any multiplayer game is playing the role of the chosen character. For example, if you choose a champion who is good at attacking from a distance (such as marksman), your role will be useless if you are fighting enemy tank champions at close range. Likewise, the tank character must stay within a path or a place on the map, with the main task of destroying enemy resources, rather than rampaging in battle.
It is very unlikely (in LoL gameplay) that you will be the only person who has the most role in the team's victory. Victory will be achieved if you play your part well and stick to your goals, and your teammates do the same
Part 3 of 3: Starting the Game
Step 1. Know the controls
League of Legends uses standard RTS (real-time strategy) controls, namely:
- Right click at a location to move there.
- Right click on the enemy to attack him.
- Press Q, W, E, or R keys to select a spell or ability.
- Press button B to teleport home.
- Press D or F key to activate one of the selected 2 Summoner Spells.
Step 2. Make sure the League window is opened
At this point, you must be logged into League of Legends.
If you've previously logged out, log back in by typing your username and password at the top right of the launcher window
Step 3. Click PLAY
It's in the upper-left corner.
Step 4. Select a map
Click SUMMONER'S RIFT to bring up the most popular maps. This is the map most frequently used by most League of Legends players, from professionals to casual players.
Step 5. Click CONFIRM at the bottom of the window
Step 6. Click FIND MATCH
You can find it at the bottom of the window. By doing so, the game will search for games near you.
Step 7. Click ACCEPT when prompted
You will join the game.
Step 8. Choose a champion
Click the desired champion. If the champion is gray, it means someone else has chosen him.
Since it's usually not possible to see champion stats before the game starts, it's a good idea to research the champions that no one else is using at the moment to see what champion class you've chosen
Step 9. Click LOCK IN located at the bottom of the window
By doing so, the champion has been locked because you have used it. This means, other players cannot choose and use the champion.
Step 10. Wait for the game to start
Once the League of Legends game is fully loaded and loaded, you can start playing. Keep in mind the strategies described earlier so that you can run the game successfully.
Many players will call for their lane in the chat bar, for example " top " (top), " mid " (middle), or " bot " (bottom, stands for bottom)
Tips
- Dealing the final blow against an enemy minion, champion, or turret is very important because it will give you gold and experience. The usual strategy is to hang around while waiting for the enemy to be at very low health, then deal a lethal blow.
- Remember, the death of your character will be an advantage for the enemy team. Try to always play conservative.
Warning
- Do not get carried away when there is criticism and negative remarks. The League of Legends community is really passionate, and the chat can get heated at times.
- Most likely you won't be able to become a triple A (AAA) League of Legends player the first time you play. Keep practicing and learn from successful and experienced players to improve the game.
