Retweeting or retweeting is a great way to spread the word when someone says something that you feel is easy to share. Twitter has an official "retweet" button that allows you to easily share other users' tweets. Fortunately, if you retweet a post that you eventually regret, you can undo the action and remove any trace of retransmission of the previous tweet. Tadaa!

Method 1 of 4: Via Twitter Mobile App
Step 1. Open Twitter app via mobile
Look for the blue bird icon with the text " Twitter " below it, then tap the icon to open the app.
Step 2. Visit your profile page
In the lower right corner of the screen, there is an outline of the avatar with the word “Me” below it. Touch the button to open your profile page.
Step 3. Browse the profile until you find the retweet you want to delete
Your profile contains a complete history of all tweets and retweets that have been uploaded. Retweets are indicated by two rotating green arrows below the original post or tweet. The retweet also includes a photo of the original user who uploaded the tweet/post.
Step 4. Touch the retweet icon to delete it
After that, the tweet you previously reshared will be removed from your profile so you and other users can't see it in your Twitter feed.
This process will not delete the original tweet from the timeline of the user who uploaded it
Method 2 of 4: Deleting Self-Made Retweets
Step 1. Visit your profile
To visit it, click or tap your photo/avatar in the top right corner of the screen. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed. Click your Twitter username (or on the mobile site, tap the " Profile " option). You are now on your personal Twitter profile page which contains a history of all the tweets, replies, and retweets that you yourself uploaded or received.
Step 2. Find the retweet you want to delete
Browse profiles for a full history of retweets. You can find out which tweets you re-shared by looking for the retweet icon below the post, which is the icon of two green arrows that form a circle.
Step 3. Touch or click the “Retweet” icon
After that, the retweet will be canceled or removed from your profile so you and other users can't see it in your Twitter feed.
This process will not delete the original tweet from the timeline of the user who uploaded it
Method 3 of 4: Deleting Copied Tweets from Other Users
Step 1. Recognize the difference between a retweet and a copy tweet
Tweets uploaded by others can be displayed on your personal profile if you re-share the tweet manually.
This is done by copying and pasting tweets from other users into your own tweets field, then uploading them. Technically, posts like this are not retweets and the deletion process is similar to the process of deleting a regular tweet. Therefore, the next explanation actually refers to how to delete a tweet from your Twitter profile.
Step 2. Visit the profile page
How you access your profile page will depend on the device you're using to access Twitter (eg computer or mobile):
- On the Twitter mobile app, go to your profile page by tapping the avatar labeled “Me” in the lower-right corner of the screen.
- In a web browser, click on your photo/avatar in the top right corner of the screen. Click your Twitter username when it appears in the drop-down menu.
Step 3. Once on the profile page, locate the tweet you want to delete
Browse your profile for a complete history of uploaded tweets until you find the tweet you want to delete.
If you remember the content of a tweet, type a keyword based on the message into the search bar in the upper-right corner of the screen to search for a specific tweet (this method can also show tweets containing the same keyword from other users)
Step 4. Click the three gray dots icon in the lower right corner of the tweet you want to delete
After that, a list of options will be displayed.
Step 5. Click "Delete Tweet"
After that, the tweet will be deleted from your profile!
Method 4 of 4: Hiding Retweets from Other Users
Step 1. Recognize retweets from someone you don't know
Sometimes, someone you don't follow on Twitter will post something, then the post will be re-shared by someone you follow. You can identify them by the gray " [Twitter user] retweeted " text above the tweet, along with the green retweet icon.
Step 2. Visit the user's profile in question
Click or tap the username shown above the retweet.
Step 3. Look for the gray gear icon in the upper right corner of the user's profile page
It's next to the blue "Following" button. Touch or click the gear icon to display options in the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Touch or click "Turn off Retweets"
With this option, you will no longer see retweets or tweets re-shared by that user. You can't delete retweets from other users on your timeline. If indeed the posts that other people share again become annoying things, the only way to do it is to turn off retweets selectively on certain users. Apart from that, there is no specific method to block retweets in bulk. You have to “handle” each user individually. To reduce “junk” on your timeline, visit the main page/profile of the users you follow.
- You will still be able to see the original tweets from that user.
- Keep in mind that this step is not retroactive. Your previous tweets will still appear on your timeline.
Tips
- If your tweets are protected, other users cannot re-share your tweets.
- You can't re-share a tweet you uploaded yourself.
