This wikiHow teaches you how to add a personal touch to your TikTok profile on an Android, iPhone, or iPad device. TikTok allows you to personalize your profile by adding your own display name, user photo, six-second profile video, and social media links.
Step
Step 1. Open the TikTok app and touch the profile icon
This icon is in the shape of a human and is located in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Step 2. Touch Edit profile
It's a large red button in the center of the screen.
Step 3. Add profile photo
This photo will represent you on TikTok. To select or take a new photo:
- Touch the link “ Profile Photo ” in the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Touch " Take a Photo ” to use the device camera and take a new photo, or “ Select from Photos/Camera Roll ” to select a photo already saved on your phone or tablet.
- Allow TikTok to access your device's photos and/or camera if you haven't already.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to crop and save the photo.
Step 4. Add a profile video instead of a photo (optional)
If a static photo doesn't reflect your personality on TikTok enough, create a 6-second profile video. When another TikTok user likes your TikTok video, he or she may follow your profile to see your other works. Here's how to create a profile video:
- Touch the link “ Profile Videos ” in the top right corner of the page.
- Give TikTok permission to access the photos on your device if you haven't already.
- Select a video from your phone or tablet.
- Drag the sliders on both sides of the photo to select a specific section (with a duration of 6 seconds) to be used as a profile video.
- Touch " Done ” to save the new video.
Step 5. Touch the display name to change it
The display name is indicated by the first blank column at the top of the page. When you're done adding a new display name, touch the link “ Save ” in the top right corner of the page.
Step 6. Touch TikTok ID to change it
The TikTok ID is displayed in the second blank column, next to the human outline icon. You can change this ID once every 30 days. Touch the button “ Save ” in the top right corner of the page to save changes.
If the selected username is already taken by another user, you will be prompted to choose another username
Notes:
If the username or ID fields are blurred, or can't be selected, you may have recently changed your TikTok username.
Step 7. Edit bio
Touch the current bio or select “ No bio yet ” (if biodata is not yet available), then write a bio that describes you. Touch the button “ Save ” in the top right corner of the screen when you're done.
Write a bio to attract new friends and followers, but don't let yourself cram too much information and/or promote other websites
Step 8. Touch Instagram to link TikTok account with Instagram account
Once touched, you need to log into your Instagram account and give TikTok permission to access the account. Once the two accounts are connected, your Instagram username will be added to your TikTok profile.
Step 9. Touch YouTube to link the account with the YouTube channel
If you have a Youtube channel, follow the on-screen instructions to log into your YouTube account and connect it to your TikTok account. After that, your YouTube channel will be linked with your TikTok profile.
Step 10. Touch Twitter to link your TikTok account with your Twitter account
If you choose a Twitter account, you can link it to the TikTok app/account. Keep in mind that you must use the Asian version of the TikTok app in order to connect your Twitter account with your TikTok profile. Enter the Twitter account login information and log in to the account to connect the two accounts.
To get the Asian version of the TikTok app (especially if you live in a non-Asian country), visit this link on an Android device. You will need to change your Apple ID region or region in order to get the Asian version of the TikTok app on iOS devices
Step 11. Touch Save
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen. Changes will be saved to the profile.
