This wikiHow teaches you how to run the Explorer application on a Windows computer. If you are using Windows 8 and 10, the program is called "File Explorer", while if you are using Windows Vista and 7, the application is called ""Windows Explorer".

Method 1 of 2: Windows 8 and 10
Step 1. Go to Start
Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner. You can also open it by pressing Win.
If you're using Windows 8, just click the magnifying glass icon instead of hovering your mouse over the top right corner
Step 2. Type file explorer into Start
At the top of the Start window will appear a folder icon.
Step 3. Click File Explorer
It's a folder-shaped icon at the top of the Start window. File Explorer will open.

While File Explorer is still open, you can "pin" (pin) this program to the taskbar so you can launch it with one click. Right click File Explorer icon
at the bottom, then select Pin to taskbar.
Step 4. Try using another way to run File Explorer
Some of the methods you can use to launch File Explorer include:

on the taskbar.

Right click Start button
then select File Explorer.

then click the folder-shaped icon
on the left side.
Method 2 of 2: Windows Vista and 7
Step 1. Go to Start

Step 2. Type windows explorer into Start
