This wikiHow teaches you how to change an iPhone or iPad that can share your location information if you ever change devices (or prefer if someone else sees a different location) via the Find My Friends feature or the Messages app via an iCloud account..
Step
Step 1. Open the iPhone settings menu (“Settings”)
This menu is indicated by a gray icon containing a sprocket or gear. You can usually find the icon on one of the device's home screens.
If you don't find it on the home screen, look for the icon in the folder labeled “ Utilities ”.
Step 2. Swipe the screen and touch Privacy
This option is the last option in the third segment.
Step 3. Touch Location Services
This option is the first option on the menu.
Make sure the button next to “ Location Services ” is in the active position (“On”) and is surrounded by green.
Step 4. Touch Share My Location
This option is the second option right under “Location Services”.
Make sure the button next to “ Share My Location ” is in the active position (“On”) and is surrounded by green.
Step 5. Touch From
This option is the second option under the "Share My Location" section.
Step 6. Touch the device
All iPhones or iPads connected to your iCloud account will be displayed. Select the device you want to use to share location information.
- Friends and family members connected in the Messages app and the Find My Friends feature can see the location of the selected device, and not the location of other devices.
- If you see a device that is no longer in use in the list, swipe the device icon towards the left and select "Delete".
- The device that isn't shown isn't connected to an iCloud account, or isn't an iPad/iPhone.
