Method 1 of 3: Using a Web Browser on a Computer
Step 1. Open Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Opera
This method can be followed without downloading any additional apps.
You can't use Safari
Step 2. Press Ctrl+O (Windows) or Cmd+O (Mac).
This keyboard shortcut is used to open files. A file browsing window will appear after that.
Step 3. Locate and double-click the WEBM file
The file will be opened and played in the browser.
Method 2 of 3: Using VLC Media Player on Computer
Step 1. Open VLC Media Player
You can find this program in the “Start” menu or in the “Applications” folder. VLC is a media player available for Mac and Windows computers, and supports playback of various video formats (including WEBM).
If you don't have VLC, you can download it for free from https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html (for Windows) or https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx. html (for Mac)
Step 2. Click Open File on the Media tab
A file browsing window will appear so you can search for and open WEBM files on your computer.
You can also drag and drop files into the VLC window
Step 3. Click the play icon
to start video playback.
Click the stop icon to stop playback
Method 3 of 3: Using the VLC Mobile App
Step 1. Open VLC
This app icon looks like an orange and white traffic funnel. You can find it on your home screen or app drawer, or by searching for it. VLC can play most video formats, including WEBM.
- If you don't have VLC, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store or App Store. This application is available from the developer "Videolabs" or "VideoLAN." The name of this app is "VLC for Android" on the Google Play Store and "VLC for Mobile" on the App Store.
- If this is your first time opening VLC, you will need to follow the tutorial before you can start using it.
Step 2. Touch the WEBM video file you want to watch
When opening the app, a list of all videos on the device will be shown. If you don't see the WEBM file you want, keep reading this article. If a video is found, touch the video to start playing it.
Touch and select “ Directories " You'll see folders in the internal storage space, as well as folders that normally contain video files. Touch an existing video to play it.
Step 3. Use control buttons to adjust video playback
The control icons are at the bottom of the screen. You can hold, play, stop, and rewind video playback with these control buttons.
