You may want to add an accessory to your school outfit or try a new style for a wedding or other special occasion. Whatever the reason, a hair bow knot is a beautiful way to dress up any outfit and create a unique look.

Method 1 of 2: Using the Ribbon Tali
Step 1. Choose the ribbon strap
Look for ribbons that match your outfit or that have an interesting texture like velvet or a certain pattern.
Step 2. Cut the ribbon
To make a standard sized ribbon knot, use a ribbon about 30 cm long. If you want to make a smaller or larger ribbon knot, use a ribbon that is less or more than 30 cm
Step 3. Hold some or all of your hair in your hands
You may want to tie your hair up or back with a hair band to make sure your hair is secure.
Feel free to make two braids on either side of the head and add ribbon at the ends
Step 4. Tuck the ribbon around the hair with one hand
If you're using a hair band, tuck the band around the hair band until it's completely covered by the ribbon.
Step 5. Weave both sides of the ribbon and tuck them to form a knot
Pull both sides of the ribbon until it is tied tightly in the middle of the hair, or in the middle of the hair band
Step 6. Tie a ribbon knot
Just like tying shoelaces, make two loops of knots and tie them together to form a ribbon.
Step 7. Look in the mirror and adjust the knot of the ribbon
Make sure both sides of the knot are the same size and lie straight above your head.
Spray hairspray or hair gel to get rid of loose hair and make sure your hair looks smooth and neat
Step 8. Keep the knot in place with KY Jelly or Karo syrup
It's hard to keep the knot in place, especially if you're dealing with a fussy child who doesn't like having anything on their head. Try using a drop of KY Jelly or Karo syrup under the middle of the ribbon knot to secure it.
You can also put a drop of gel or syrup in the middle of the knot before you tie the knot
Method 2 of 2: Using Your Hair
Step 1. Make a ribbon knot
This is a pretty variation of the usual messy bun or top bun.
- Start by gathering your hair into a ponytail and tie the hair with an elastic band or hair band, with the ends sticking out.
- Separate the buns by pulling them together to create two loops of knots, which will be the two sides of the bowknot.
- Use the ends of your hair to wrap the two knots. This will create the illusion of a ribbon knot in the middle.
- Secure the ribbon knot with bobby pins and/or hair spray.
Step 2. Make a small hair bow knot
In this look, part of the hair is loose to create a more relaxed style.
- Take small sections of hair from both sides of your head. The bigger the section of hair, the bigger the knot, so decide how big or small you want the bow on your head to be.
- Tie two sections of hair with an elastic band or hair band to make a half ponytail. Do not remove the ends of the hair from the rubber so that a loop will form at the end of the knot.
- Split the loop of knots in half to make two smaller loops of knots. Set aside a loop of knots by pinching them together.
- Use your fingers to tug at the loop of the knot that isn't clamped and press it against your head to form a ribbon. Tuck one bobby pin from the top down and one bobby pin from the bottom up.
- Repeat this process on the other nodes.
- You will now have ribbon-shaped hair.
- Lift the remaining end of the ponytail and wrap it around the hair band to hide it. Secure the ends by tucking a bobby pin under the knot of the ribbon.
Step 3. Make a loop of small ribbon knots without hairpins
This look forms two ponytails with a bowknot and, even better, doesn't require any bobby pins. However, you'll need a hair shaping tool called Topsy Tail, or make one using the tip of a fly swatter.
- Part your hair into two equal sections on either side of your head. Secure each section with a hair band so that the hair covers your ears and the hair tie lies below the jawline.
- Separate a section of hair into two equal sections and a thicker middle section. Try to make the two sides of the hair as balanced as possible as this will be the loop of the knot.
- Pin a section of hair.
- Take a hair shaping tool or homemade version and place the tip of the wand into the outer layer of the hair band. Rotate the tool so that the circular part of the knot is closer to your face.
- Take a section of hair and carefully pull the loop of the knot on the tool. This section of hair will form a small loop of knots. This is one and a half knots of ribbon.
- Pull the shaping tool out of your hair to remove it and tighten the hair band up to secure the section of hair so that the loop of knots stays in a neat and tidy shape.
- Repeat this process on the other side of the hair to make another side of the bowknot. However, this time tuck the shaping tool so that the side of the circle is facing away from your face.
- To hide the hair band, place the tool in the middle of the hair band, take a section of hair from the front and tuck it at the end of the loop of the tool knot. Pull the tool and then release. The center of your knot will look great.
- Complete the same procedure on the other side of your hair so that you have two pigtails with two bow knots. Stretch the two knots of the ribbon so that the loop of the knot looks full. Use hair spray to maintain the bow.
Warning
- Don't tie the knot too loosely as it will come loose.
- Try to collect all the hair, because if the hair is caught in the ribbon it will be painful.
