Not only easy and fun for children, creating fake nails with adhesive tape can also be a trial for adults in creating long nail designs, before actually realizing it.

Part 1 of 2: Making False Nails with Adhesive Tape
Step 1. Choose a clear or glossy adhesive tape
Usually, scotch tape (clear tape) is very easy to apply over the nails. You can choose a clear or slightly opaque colored tape, according to your taste.
Scotch tape is a clear adhesive tape. In some areas, it can also be referred to as masking tape or sticky tape
Step 2. Place the piece of tape over the nail
Cut the tape to twice the size of your fingernail. Stick the tape on your finger, so that it covers the entire nail, as well as a little of the area around it. Furthermore, this will also give a shiny effect on the nails. Press the side of the tape firmly, until it curls and resembles a long nail clipping.
If the tape is too wide, let an adult cut it with scissors
Step 3. Paint the bottom of the tape with nail polish (nail polish)
Apply polish on the underside of the tape. This will help your nails last longer, while preventing them from sticking to other objects. However, make sure you don't touch anything before the paint dries.
Step 4. Rub the nail on the end of the tape (optional)
If you have a nail file or nail buffer, you can use the three or four sides to gently scrub the underside of the nail. Do this until the bottom edge of the tape. This will cause the tape to limp/fall down, thus blurring the lines.
Part 2 of 2: Fake Nails
Step 1. Apply nail polish if you have one
Apply nail polish over the tape, as you normally would when coloring your nails. There are many designs that can be made, and interestingly, you don't even need to use a coat of primer. Choose your favorite color and start decorating fake nails.
- Wait for one color to dry, before you apply another color on top.
- Sweeping clear polish on top of another that has dried will give your nails a shinier appearance.
Step 2. Apply the nail splatter decorating method
Since you already have some tape on top of your nails, why not use it to try other decorating methods? Here, you'll need a small plastic straw and a layer of newspaper, to ensure the process remains neat and uncluttered. This method will be more perfect if you use various colored nail polish.
- Cover the finger area around the nails with an extra layer of masking tape, to keep them clean from splashes of paint. Be careful, because the layers of masking tape may overlap, causing the false nails to come off.
- Dip a plastic straw in the nail polish, then blow over the nail. This will scatter the drops of nail polish over the false nails.
- Repeat with another color. Instead of dipping a paint-stained straw directly into the nail polish bottle, you can use a plastic plate or piece of newspaper as a container to put the next color in. Dip the straw into it, to prevent the color of the nail polish from mixing.
- Do it until done and let it dry. After that, remove the layer of tape that protects your fingers.
Step 3. Apply another decoration method
If you don't have nail polish, you can decorate fake nails with small stickers. You can also write or even paint with a permanent marker. However, be aware that the marker will likely stain unless you are very careful to apply a second coat of tape when painting.
