This wikiHow teaches you how to make friends on Facebook, whether new or existing. You can search through the desktop version of Facebook or the mobile app. If you don't have a Facebook account yet, you will need to create one before continuing.

Method 1 of 5: Making New Friends Through Desktop Sites
Step 1. Open Facebook
Visit https://www.facebook.com in a browser. After that, a news feed page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If you're not logged into your account, type your email address and password in the top-right corner of the page
Step 2. Click the " Friends " icon
This two-person silhouette icon is in the upper-right corner of the Facebook page. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click Find Friends
It's in the upper-right corner of the drop-down menu. After that, a list of suggested friends will be displayed.
Step 4. Review the results that appear
You can click the button Add Friend ” (“Add friend”) next to a known user, or clicking on a user's profile to view more information about him if the user's security settings allow others to view the information.
You can narrow your search results by selecting several different filters (eg location) on the right side of the page

Step 1. Open Facebook
Tap the Facebook app icon, which looks like a white “f” on a dark blue background. After that, a newsfeed page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If you're not logged into your account, first enter your email address and password

It's in the lower-right corner of the screen (iPhone) or in the upper-right corner of the screen (Android). After that, a new menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Touch Friends (“Friends”)
It's at the top of the menu.
On Android devices, this option is labeled as “Find Friends” (“Find Friends”)
Step 4. Touch Suggestions (“Suggestions”)
It's in the top-left corner of the screen. After that, a list of suggested friends will be displayed.
Step 5. Review the results that appear
You can touch the button Add Friend ” button to the right of a user's profile to add them as friends. You can also touch a user's profile to see more information about it (if the user's security settings allow others to see that information).
Method 3 of 5: Browse Existing Friends Via Desktop Site
Step 1. Open Facebook

Step 2. Click your name tab
It's in the top-right corner of the page. After that, your profile page will be displayed.

You can browse the list of friends on this page or type the name of a specific friend in the search box to the right of the " Friends " heading.

Step 1. Open Facebook

Method 5 of 5: Finding Specific Friends
Step 1. Open Facebook
Visit (desktop computers) or tap the Facebook app icon (mobile devices). After that, a newsfeed page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If you are not logged into your account, please enter your email address and password first before continuing
Step 2. Select the search bar
This bar is the text box that appears at the top of the Facebook page.
Step 3. Type in the friend's name
Enter the username you want to search for on Facebook.
Step 4. Choose a friend's name
In the drop-down box that appears below the search bar, click or touch the name that matches the name you typed.
Step 5. Select the People tab (“People”)
This tab is at the top of the page (desktop site) or in the top-left corner of the screen (mobile app).
Step 6. Review the displayed results
You will see a list of profiles with names that match the name you entered. On this list, find the friend you want. If you find one, select their profile picture to view the user's profile and add them as a friend.
