This wikiHow teaches you how to unarchive a chat on Facebook Messenger by sending a new message to someone with a previously archived chat thread.

Step 1. Open the Facebook Messenger app
Facebook Messenger is marked by a blue speech bubble icon with a white lightning bolt inside.
Step 2. Touch the search bar
This bar is at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Type the name of the friend in question
This name is the name of the friend whose chat you archived earlier.
Step 4. Touch the friend's name
The chat window will be displayed and the archived chat will be opened.
Step 5. Type in a new message
Step 6. Touch the blue send button
It's on the right side of the message bar and appears as a blue paper airplane icon, or blue " Send " text. A new message will be sent to the recipient and the chat thread will be moved from the archive folder to the inbox.
