Dragonstone is an item that you must find when doing the "Bleak Falls Barrow" quest. In this quest, Farengar Secret-Fire asks you to look for Dragonstone in a place called Bleak Fall Barrow. To find this item, you have to go through mountains and fight bandits. This wikiHow teaches you in detail the steps you must take to complete this quest.

Step 1. Start doing the quest “Bleak Falls Barrow
” This quest can be done early in the game after you deliver a message to Jarl Barlgruuf in Whiterun. Jarl Barlgruuf will order you to talk to his wizard named Farengar Secret-Fire. He will explain to you that he is looking for the Dragonstone. After that, he will ask you to go to Bleak Falls Barrow to find this item. After speaking with Farengar Secret-Fire, a quest marker indicating the location of Bleak Falls Barrow will appear on the map.
If you have completed the quest “The Golden Claw,” there is a good chance that you have found the Dragonstone because this quest requires you to go to Bleak Falls Barrow. After obtaining a Dragonstone, you cannot sell it or remove it from your inventory. As such, you must hand this item over to Farengar Secret-Fire after completing the "Bleak Falls Barrow" quest
Step 2. Go to Bleak Falls Barrow
One of the fastest ways to find Bleak Falls Barrow is to head south from Whiterun. After that, you'll need to find a trail at the foot of the mountain that takes you to Bleak Falls Barrow. By passing this way, you will not meet many enemies. The route most often used by players is to cross the bridge that is north of Riverwood and turn northwest until you find a path that leads to Bleak Falls Barrow. However, if you go this route, you'll have to fight wild animals, such as wolves, and some bandits who live in abandoned towers.
Be careful when approaching the Bleak Falls Barrow as you will encounter six bandits near the entrance. In this large area, archers can attack you freely from a distance. Therefore, it's a good idea to fight bandits that attack you at close range behind pillars to protect yourself from archers' attacks
Step 3. Enter the Bleak Falls Barrow
When you enter Bleak Falls Barrow for the first time, you will find many corpses of skeevers and humans all around you. After that, you'll hear the bandits talking about someone named Arvel who ran away after getting the Golden Claw. The quest "The Golden Claw" will start if you haven't activated it. Defeat the bandits on guard and explore the cave.
Step 4. Solve the pillar puzzle (Pillar Puzzle)
As you explore the cave, you'll see a bandit carrying a torch enter the puzzle area. Let him move the lever. After that, he would be killed by the traps set in the area. Walk forward and examine a symbol on the floor and two symbols on the wall. See the animal symbols engraved on the three pillars. After that, rotate the pillars in the following order (from left to right): snake, snake, and whale. Pull the lever and continue your journey.
Be careful when descending the spiral staircase because the skeever will attack you. Stay at the top of the stairs to prevent the skeevers from swarming and attacking you from all sides. That way, you can beat them one by one
Step 5. Defeat the giant spider
As you explore the cave, you will enter an area filled with cobwebs and hear people bound to cobwebs asking for help. Approach him carefully and the Frostbite Spider will descend from the ceiling to fight you. Kill the spider and talk to Arvel the Swift who is bound to the spider web.
If you're having trouble defeating these spiders, it's a good idea to backtrack to the door you went through to enter the area. The spider will not be able to chase you through the door. Heal yourself and use magic or arrows to attack the spider from a distance. However, note that it can attack you from a distance using poison. Dodge left or right when he lifts his butt as this indicates that he is about to throw poison at you
Step 6. Please Arvel the Swift
Talk to Arvel to interrogate him about the whereabouts of the Golden Claw. After that, he will say that he will provide information about this item if you free him from the cobwebs. Use weapons or magic to attack the nets that bind his hands and feet. Arvel will fall down and run into the cave to escape from you. After that, he will be killed by a dragur awakened from his sleep or killed by a spear trap attached to the wall after stepping on the pressure plate. Defeat the draugr and look for the Golden Claw on Arvel's corpse. After getting the Golden Claw, re-explore the cave, defeat the draugr, and pass the trap.
Step 7. Enter the Sanctum area
As you explore the cave, you'll see a locked door that contains three small circles that have animal symbols on them and a large circle where you enter the Golden Claw. Open your inventory, and select and check the Golden Claw. On the back of the Golden Claw, you'll see the symbols for the following animals: bear, moth, and owl. Rotate the three circles to match the order of the symbols engraved on the Golden Claw. After that, use the Golden Claw to open the door and enter the Sanctum area in Bleak Falls Barrow.
Step 8. Get Dragonstone
The Sanctum is a large and open area filled with waterfalls and a large wall bearing foreign letters. You'll hear a scream that gets louder as you approach the wall. After standing in front of the front wall, the monitor screen will dim and the words engraved on the wall will glow. After that, you will learn Word of Power from Word Wall. After getting the Word of Power ability, the coffin behind you will open and a powerful boss draugr will appear. Defeat this draugr and get the Dragonstone on his corpse.
Step 9. Exit the Sanctum
You don't have to walk the path you previously walked to get out of Bleak Falls Barrow. You just need to follow the quest marker to find the hidden exit. The door will take you to the outside world so you can use fast travel to go to Whiterun or Dragonsreach. You can find Farengar Secret-Fire faster by selecting Dragonsreach when using fast travel.
Step 10. Give the Dragonstone to Farengar
Follow the quest marker and you will see Farengar Secret-Fire talking to Delphine. Listen to their discussion about the appearance of dragons in Skyrim. After that, talk to Farengar Secret-Fire to give him the Dragonstone and complete the "Bleak Falls Barrow" quest.
