If you decide to no longer use Kik, you may feel a little confused about how to delete your account. Luckily, all you need to deactivate your account (either temporarily or permanently) is a web browser and access to the email account used to create your Kik account. You can also deactivate your child's account if you are concerned about their safety online, or the account of a loved one who has passed away.

Method 1 of 4: Understanding Temporary and Permanent Deactivation
Step 1. What is temporary deactivation?
When you temporarily deactivate your Kik account, you will not be able to get messages and emails from Kik. Also, your profile will not be shown in Kik search, and your name will be removed from the contact list of other Kik users. However, you can reactivate your account at any time by accessing it.
This method is a great choice if you don't want to use Kik for now, but might want to come back to check your Kik account information in the future

Yes. All your chats with other Kik users will be automatically hidden if you temporarily deactivate your account, or permanently deleted if you permanently deactivate your account. However, it may take a few days for the messages to disappear.
If you delete the account, there will be no recording/copies of the chats on other users' phones/accounts
Step 5. Can I back up my Kik account?
Yes, to a computer or third-party application. There's no direct way to save messages to your device, but you can include your Kik account information into your computer's backup files by connecting your phone to your computer. Apart from that, you can also download third-party applications such as Dr. Fone or MobileTrans to save Kik messages on other media/platforms.
This way, you can delete your Kik account, but keep a copy of the message
Method 2 of 4: Temporarily Deactivating Account
Step 1. Visit https://ws.kik.com/deactivate via a web browser
Kik has a special website that is directed to you when you want to delete an account. Therefore, you need to use a web browser, not the Kik app.
Step 2. Enter the email address associated with your Kik account
You will see a box with the message “We're Sad to See You Go!”
If you need to change the email address on your Kik account, go to the settings menu and add a new address
Step 3. Touch Go
The message will be sent to your email address.
Step 4. Open the message from Kik
The subject line of the message will contain text regarding the temporary deactivation of the account.
Step 5. Touch Deactivate
The account will be deactivated and a survey window will be opened to ask you about the reason for the account deactivation. Filling out this survey is optional so you don't have to.
- You will no longer receive Kik messages (or emails from Kik's side).
- Your username is no longer searchable on Kik.
- Your profile name will be removed from your friend's contact list.
- When ready to reactivate your account, simply re-access the account on Kik Messenger.
- Deactivating your Kik account will not remove the Kik app from your phone.
Method 3 of 4: Deactivating or Permanently Deleting Account
Step 1. Visit https://ws.kik.com/delete via a web browser
Kik has a special website for permanent account deletion so you need to use a web browser, and not the Kik app.
Step 2. Enter your username and email address
You will also be asked to select the reason for deleting your Kik account which needs to be answered/entered before moving on to the next step.
Step 3. Check the box
By checking the box, you indicate that you "understand that you will be permanently deleting your account and will no longer be able to log into your account to reactivate it."

The message will be sent to your email address.
Step 5. Open the message from Kik
The message has a subject line or title stating the permanent deletion of the account.
Step 6. Touch Permanently Deactivate
The account will be permanently deleted once you press the button so make sure you are sure you want to delete the existing account.
- Account can no longer be accessed after deletion.
- You will no longer receive messages from friends, or emails from Kik.
- Your username is no longer searchable on Kik.
- Your profile will be removed from your friend's contact list.
- You will no longer be able to log in and activate your account. Instead, you need to create a new account if you want to reuse Kik services.
- Deactivating your Kik account will not delete the Kik app from your phone.
Method 4 of 4: Deleting the Account of a Child/Teenager or a User who Has Died
Step 1. Delete someone's account if he or she is in danger or has passed away
If your little one uses Kik and you're worried about who they're interacting with, it's a good idea to delete the account yourself. If your loved one has passed away and you don't want their account to remain active, you can also delete the account from Kik.
- There are many things that make you (as a parent) feel the need to delete a child's Kik account. However, keep in mind that your little one may be angry with you for intruding on their privacy.
- The procedure for deleting someone else's account is a bit more difficult than the procedure for deleting your own account so it can take longer.
Step 2. Use your email address and username to delete the account if you know both
If you know the username and email address of a child or loved one, you can follow the steps in the previous method to deactivate your account, either temporarily or permanently. You'll need to access your child's or loved one's email account to open a message from Kik, so make sure you know the password for that email account too.
This process takes less time and you can delete your Kik account with this method in just a few minutes
Step 3. Email Kik support if you don't know the username and email address of your child or loved one
If you don't know your loved one's Kik account information and he or she has passed away, send an email to [email protected]. If you don't know your child's Kik account information and are worried about its safety, send an email to [email protected].
- If you're emailing a loved one who has passed away, make sure you mention your relationship with them, obituary or death certificate, or any other known information about their Kik account.
- If you're emailing a child's Kik account, state their username and age in the message.
