This wikiHow teaches you how to send emojis using WhatsApp. This guide is intended for English language applications.

Method 1 of 2: iPhone
Step 1. Make sure the emoji keyboard on iPhone is enabled
To enable it, follow the guide below:
- open Settings.
- Touch General.
- Swipe down then touch Keyboard.
- Make sure Emoticon displayed on this page. If not, touch Add New Keyboard then select Emoticon.
Step 2. Open WhatsApp
This app has a green icon with a white phone surrounded by a white line.
Step 3. Touch Chats
This option is at the bottom of the screen.
If when you open WhatsApp you are immediately redirected to the conversation window, tap the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the screen
Step 4. Touch talk
This will open the talk page.
You can also tap the pencil-and-paper icon at the top right of the screen to start a new conversation
Step 5. Touch the talk bar
This is the white column at the bottom of the screen.
When you create a new conversation, first touch the contact's name
Step 6. Touch the "Keyboards" button
This button has a globe icon and is located in the lower-left corner of the iPhone's keyboard.
If the Emoji keyboard is the only keyboard on your iPhone, this icon will be shaped like a smiling face
Step 7. Touch the Emoji keypad if necessary
If there are multiple keyboard keys, you'll need to tap the smiley face icon in the window above the "Keyboards" icon.
Step 8. Choose an emoji
You can touch any of the buttons at the bottom of the screen to select a specific group of emoji. You can also swipe the emoji pad button to the left to see a list of available emojis.
Step 9. Touch the "Send" arrow
This button is to the right of the talk bar. By pressing this button, the emoji will be sent.
Method 2 of 2: Android
Step 1. Open WhatsApp
The app has a green icon with a white phone surrounded by a white line.
Step 2. Touch CHATS
This button is located at the top of the screen.
If when you open WhatsApp you are immediately redirected to the conversation window, tap the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the screen
Step 3. Touch talk
This will open the conversation.
You can tap the “New Message” button in the lower right corner of the screen and then select a contact to start a new conversation with
Step 4. Touch the emoji button
This button has a smiley face icon to the left of the talk bar at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Select an emoji
You can touch the button at the top of the emoji window to view the emoji categories. You can also swipe through the emoji window to see the entire emoji list.
Step 6. Touch the “Send” arrow
This button is located to the right of the message bar. This will send the selected emoji.
