Chocolate-covered apples are a popular and trendy dish. Almost all shops sell this dish! But instead of buying and spending money, you can make it in minutes at home. Here's how.
Ingredients
- 6 medium sweet/sour apples
- 1/2 kg half sweet chocolate, cut into pieces
- 1 cup sprinkles (oreos, coconut, nuts, M&Ms, etc.)
Step
Method 1 of 2: Preparing the Ingredients
Step 1. Prepare the apples
Choose apple varieties such as Braeburn, Fuji, or Gala. The apples selected were medium in size and sweet, but not too sweet. Wash the apples and remove the stems. Dip the popsicle stick into the core of the apple.
Apples will coat better when cold. Place the apples in the fridge while you prepare the other ingredients
Step 2. Chop the chocolate and additional sprinkles
A cut of about 2.5 cm is a good, standard size. You can also use dark chocolate if you prefer. And whatever sprinkles you choose, it's all up to you!
-
In addition, almost anything can be used. Whatever it is, make sure it's finely chopped. Crush Oreos and nuts, Butterfinger and Reese, or use Mini M&M. Separate your sprinkles in a wide-sided bowl.
An extra splash of chocolate will make the dish even more beautiful. When you're melting half-sweet chocolate, melt a bowl of white chocolate (100 grams) as a top splash
Step 3. Take the baking paper
Line with parchment paper. If desired, spray a thin layer of cooking spray to prevent the apples from sticking.
Method 2 of 2: Making Apple Gourmet
Step 1. Take a double pan
If you don't have this pan, put a glass or ceramic bowl in the water, but it may be a little more difficult to cook. The double pot will slowly melt the chocolate, preventing it from boiling and burning to a crisp.
-
Add the chocolate chunks, stirring frequently. If it's too hot, reduce the heat. Once the chocolate has almost melted, remove from heat, stirring until smooth and warm, not hot.
Microwave can be an option. Heat the chocolate on high for 2 minutes, stirring half a turn. Note: Microwaving the chocolate may scorch
Step 2. Submerge the apples in the chocolate
Remove and allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. Roll the apple and rotate the stick, so that each part of the apple gets a nice brown coating.
If the side of the ice cream stick is a little hard to reach, take a spoon and pour it over any hard-to-reach areas. Flatten; layers should be the same on all sides
Step 3. Roll the apples in the sprinkles
You can use your hands to make sure all the apples are evenly coated. If the sprinkles are dripping heavily, pat each side of the apple.
If you're using sprinkling, place the apples onto the parchment paper with the ice stick pointing up. Then take the splat and hold it about 15 cm above the apple, this will create lines of varying thickness on the paper
Step 4. Place the apples on the parchment paper
The ice stick should point upwards. Place in the fridge to cool until the chocolate is ready.
Step 5. Done
Tips
- The smaller the pieces of chocolate, the faster the chocolate will melt.
- You can add sprinkles and then a splash (or more chocolate!) on top.
- Hold the apple with the stick toward you to make a horizontal splash.
