Step
Method 1 of 4: Pan Fried Cod Fish Fillet

Step 1. Prepare the cod fillets
Rinse the fillets under running water for a few minutes and pat dry with a paper towel to absorb the water.

Step 2. Pour the milk into a shallow dish

Step 3. Soak the fillets in milk for 15 minutes
The milk will help get rid of the strong fishy smell.

Step 4. Mix the coarse cornstarch, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl
You can transfer them to a plate if you don't have a suitable shallow bowl. It will be easier to coat the fillets with cornstarch in a shallow bowl or plate.

Step 5. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes

Step 6. Roll the milk-soaked fillets in the cornstarch mixture above
Flip the fillets several times so that each side is completely coated with the cornstarch.

Step 7. Fry the fillets for 5 minutes on each side

Step 8. Transfer the fillets to a serving plate

Step 9. Add lemon juice

Step 10. Garnish with fresh parsley, and enjoy
Method 2 of 4: Broiled Cod Fillet

Step 1. Prepare the cod fillets
Rinse under running water for a few minutes and pat dry with a paper towel to absorb the water.

Step 2. Heat your broiler (overheated oven) to high temperature or heat

Step 3. Spray your broiler tray/pan with cooking spray or grease it manually
This will prevent the fish from sticking to the broiler tray.

Step 4. After washing the fillets under running water for a few minutes, place the fillets on the top layer of the broiler tray

Step 5. Brush the fillets with melted butter using a pastry brush

Step 6. Sprinkle the fillets with lemon juice

Step 7. Sprinkle the fillets with salt, pepper and paprika

Step 8. Finally, weed dill on top of the fillets

Step 9. Place the broiler tray in the broiler oven, about 10 cm below the heating element

Step 10. Bake the fillets for 5 minutes
The cod fillets are cooked through by the time the flesh breaks easily when poked with a fork.

Step 11. Transfer the broiled cod fillets to a serving plate
Use a spatula to move it carefully as the fish is soft and flakes easily so it crumbles easily.
Method 3 of 4: Poached Cod Fillet

Step 1. Prepare the cod fillets
Rinse under running water for a few minutes and pat dry with a paper towel to absorb the water.

Step 2. Combine water, wine, onion, potatoes, carrots, salt, bay leaf, and pepper in a large skillet

Step 3. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat

Step 4. Reduce the heat to low until the mixture starts to simmer slowly (simmer)

Step 5. Add the cod fillets to the pan in a single layer (do not stack)
Make sure the fillets are completely submerged in the liquid.

Step 6. Poach/boil the fillets until the meat is opaque and easy to flake
This will take about 7 minutes. The internal temperature of the fillets should be 175ºF. Vegetables should also be soft when pierced with a fork.

Step 7. Serve
Place one cod fillet in each bowl and divide the vegetables and stock evenly between the four bowls. Garnish with lemon wedges and parsley.
Method 4 of 4: Oven Baked Cod Fillet

Step 1. Prepare the cod fillets
Rinse under running water for a few minutes and pat dry with a paper towel to absorb the water.

Step 2. Preheat oven to 350ºF (176ºC)

Step 3. Mix butter and lemon juice
Mix the melted butter and lemon juice in a small bowl until all the ingredients are well combined and a smooth butter mixture is produced.

Step 4. Mix flour, salt and white pepper together in a separate bowl
Also stir these ingredients until you get a smooth flour mixture.

Step 5. Dip the cod fillets in the butter mixture, then coat with the flour mixture
The butter will make the flour mixture stick to the fish. Shake or tap the fillets gently to remove excess flour mixture.

Step 6. Place the fish in a 20 cm x 20 cm x 5 cm square pan (without oil/butter)

Step 7. Pour the remaining butter mixture over the fish
Sprinkle the fish with paprika to taste.

Step 8. Bake the cod fillets for 25-30 minutes, until the fish is easily flaked with a fork

Step 9. Serve
Garnish the fish with parsley sprigs and lemon wedges, and enjoy while warm.
Tips
Breadcrumbs or seasoned biscuits can be used instead of corn meal. Or just use coarse breadcrumbs. If you prefer to avoid the added calories from coating the fillets with flour, you can fry the fillets immediately after soaking them in the milk. But a layer of cornstarch or breadcrumbs will give the fillet a crispier texture
Warning
- Cod fillets don't have very many spines, but be careful when eating them so you don't choke on the tiny spines.
- Always keep the fish refrigerated until you are ready to cook it. Do not freeze fish for more than 3 months, and never refreeze fish after you have thawed it after it was frozen previously.
