Now that you've prepared and parted your hair for the bob, it's time to start cutting it. However, first you have to determine what kind of bob hairstyle your client wants. The classic angled bob? Or a thick stacked bob? These two hairstyles are quite difficult hairstyles.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Cutting the Angled Bob Model
Step 1. Prepare your hair
Find a guide on how to prepare and part hair for a bob hairstyle. Proper preparation will give the best results.
Step 2. Divide the hair into four neat, straight sections
The vertical part should be straight and right in the center of your client's head, and the horizontal part should be about 2.5 centimeters above the hairline.
Each side of the bottom horizontal section should be split evenly down the middle and set aside
Step 3. Hold the hair at a 45 degree angle from the neck, or cut it along the neck at a 45 degree angle
You can determine the 45 degree angle by dividing the angle between the vertical and horizontal halves.
Step 4. Start cutting
If you're right-handed, set aside the left side, starting with the right side of your first portion. Following this angle, place your hands close to the border of your scalp.
If you are left-handed, you should do the opposite, starting with the left side and cutting the hair from the outside in
Step 5. Follow the guidelines of your hand carefully
A good cut is a cut that is straight from the outside in. Use the straight side of your hand to maintain the angle of the haircut.
Step 6. Cut the left side of the first portion
Do this the same as when you cut the right side. Be careful, both halves must have the same cutting angle.
Step 7. Take the next section of hair in the same angle
This following portion can be about 1 to 2.5 centimeters thick above the limit of the previous portion. Cut your hair carefully. Consistency is very important so that the haircut is neat and uniform.
Step 8. Repeat until you get to the crown
The crown line can be determined by drawing an imaginary line connecting the ears through the top of the head. Separate the back by tucking the hair behind the ear. This will connect the back and sides properly.
Method 2 of 2: Cutting the Stacked Bob Model
Step 1. Wash and divide hair into 4 sections as usual
If you're not sure how to prepare your hair for this cut, look again for articles on preparing and parting your hair for a bob.
Step 2. Cut the hair in an angled bob up to the occipital bone
You can determine this occipital bone by looking for a bulge in the lower back of the head and drawing a line from it toward the ear.
Step 3. Take the hair in equal portions starting from the occipital bone up
Adding layers will add volume to your hairstyle. Keep in mind that each horizontal portion should be about 2.5 to 4 centimeters apart from each other.
Step 4. Lift each section of hair until it forms a 90 degree angle from the head
This means you will hold your client's hair perpendicular to your client's head. From this position, you can determine the length of the cut you will make.
Step 5. From that perpendicular angle, trim the hair evenly to the desired length
This will make the hair more fluffy. Cuts with layers will make the hair pile up naturally and make this bob look more shaped and fluffy.
Remember, you have to cut both sides the same length and angle
Step 6. Continue cutting the next servings at a 90 degree angle until the back of the head is done
You should cut to the horizontal line in the middle of the head that connects the ears. When the portion on the back is finished, you can move on to the front.
