This wikiHow teaches you how to type emoji in Instagram comments. You can paste them on your iPhone or Android device using your phone's built-in emoji keyboard and the Instagram app, as well as on the Instagram desktop site by copying and pasting emojis from supported sites.
Step
Method 1 of 3: On iPhone
Step 1. Enable emoji keyboard on device
If you don't have a built-in emoji keyboard, please enable it before continuing:

Open the settings menu or "Settings"

- Scroll down and select " Keyboard ”.
- Touch " Keyboards ”.
- Choose " Add New Keyboard ”.
- Scroll down and select " Emoticon ”.
Step 2. Open Instagram
This app is marked by a colorful camera icon. Once opened, the main Instagram page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If not, type in the username (or phone number) and password for the account, then tap the “ Login ”.
Step 3. Go to the post you want to comment on
Scroll through the home page or timeline until you find a post, or tap the magnifying glass icon and type in an account name to see the specific post you want.
You can also add emojis to the captions of your own Instagram posts
Step 4. Touch the speech bubble icon
It's at the bottom of the post photo, on the left side of the screen. After that, the cursor will be placed in the comments field and the device keyboard will be displayed.
Step 5. Touch the emoji keyboard icon
It's a smiley face icon in the lower-left corner of the keyboard. The emoji keyboard will appear instead of the regular alphabet keyboard.
- If you have more than one additional keyboard, this icon displays as a globe. Touch and hold the globe icon, then select “ Emoticon ”.
- To switch to the original keyboard, touch the “ A B C ” in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Step 6. Select the emoji you want to add
You can swipe the list of all available emoji left or right. Touch an option to insert it in the comments field.
Step 7. Touch the Post button
It's on the right side of the text field. After that, your emoji comment will be uploaded.
Method 2 of 3: On Android Device
Step 1. Open Instagram
This app is marked by a colorful camera icon. Once opened, the main Instagram page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.

Step 2. Go to the post you want to comment on

Step 3. Touch the speech bubble icon
This icon is below the post photo. The Android device keyboard will then be displayed on the screen.
Step 4. Touch the emoji keyboard icon
This icon looks like a smiling face. You can find it in the lower left corner or the lower right corner of the keyboard.
If you don't see the emoji icon, touch and hold the “ Return " After that, the emoji options will be displayed.
Step 5. Select the emoji you want to send
You can swipe the list of all available emoji left or right. Touch an option to insert an emoji into the comment field.
Step 6. Touch the button
It's on the right side of the text field. After that, a comment containing the emoji of your choice will be uploaded.
Method 3 of 3: On Desktop Site
Windows
Step 1. Go to Instagram website
Visit https://www.instagram.com via your preferred web browser. The main Instagram page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If not, click the " Login ”, enter the account username (or phone number) and password, then click “ Login ”.
Step 2. Go to the post you want to comment on
Scroll through the main page or timeline until you see the post you want to comment on, or type a specific account name into the search bar (“Search”) at the top of the page.
Step 3. Click the comment field
This white column is below the Instagram post and is labeled "Add a comment… ". After that, the mouse cursor will be placed in the column.
Step 4. Click the “Touch Keyboard” icon
It's a keyboard-shaped icon in the lower-left corner of the screen. You may need to click the button
first to see it. If you don't see the “Touch Keyboard” icon:
- Open menu " Start ”.
- Click the gear icon " Settings ”.
- Click " Personalization ”.
- Click " Taskbar ”.
- Scroll down and click " Turn system icons on or off ”.
- Click the “Off” switch to the right of the option “ Touch keyboard ”.
Step 5. Click the smiley face icon
It's in the lower-left corner of the keyboard.
Step 6. Click the emoji to insert it into the comment field
You can scroll the emoji tab left or right by clicking the “ >" or " < ”, or choose a different emoji category by clicking on the tabs shown at the bottom of the keyboard.
Step 7. Press Enter key
After that, a comment containing the selected emoji will be uploaded.
Mac
Step 1. Go to Instagram website

Step 4. Click Edit
This menu is on the left side of the menu bar that appears at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Click Emoji & Symbols
This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 6. Click the emoji to insert it
You can select a different category of emoji by clicking the tabs at the bottom of the emoji window.
Step 7. Press the Return key
After that, a comment containing the selected emoji will be uploaded.
