This wikiHow teaches you how to open and review your message inbox on Facebook. You can do this using the Facebook Messenger app for mobile devices, as well as the Facebook website for desktop computers.

Method 1 of 2: Via Mobile Device
Step 1. Open Facebook Messenger
This app icon looks like a white lightning bolt on a blue background. Once opened, the last tab opened in the Facebook Messenger app will be displayed.
If you are not logged into your Facebook Messenger account, enter your phone number and account password to continue
Step 2. Touch Home option
This option is indicated by the home icon in the lower-left corner of the screen. After that, you will be taken to the inbox page.
If Messenger immediately displays the conversation, first tap the " Back " button in the upper left corner of the screen
Step 3. Review the inbox
Recent messages will be displayed at the top of the screen, above the line of the currently active contact ("Active Now"). Slide the content displayed on the tab “ Home ” (“Main Page”) to view older messages incrementally.
Method 2 of 2: Via Desktop Computer
Step 1. Open Facebook
Visit in a web browser. After that, a news feed page (“News Feed”) will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If you're not logged into your account, enter your email address (or phone number) and password in the top-right corner of the page
Step 2. Click the Messenger icon
It's a lightning bolt icon in the top-right corner of the Facebook page. After that, a drop-down menu with a list of the most recent messages will be displayed.
Step 3. Click See All in Messenger
This link is at the bottom of the drop-down menu. After that, you will be taken to the Messenger inbox.
Step 4. Review the inbox
You can browse the conversations in the column on the left side of the page. Recent chats will be shown at the top of the column, while old chats are at the bottom of the column.
