Black eyebrows will stand out and beautify the appearance of the face. To get black eyebrows, you can color them. However, if you don't want to use harsh chemicals or have had a bad experience with eyebrow dyes before, you may want to try a more natural approach. Coffee grounds can actually darken eyebrows and give them a more natural and defined look. You just need to mix coffee with some other ingredients that you might already have in your kitchen, and apply it to your eyebrows, then let it sit for less than half an hour. As a result, you will have beautiful eyebrows that others will envy and it won't take long to get them.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons (21 g) of leftover coffee grounds
- 1 teaspoon (3 g) cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons (26 g) coconut oil
- Honey

Part 1 of 3: Mixing Coffee “Dye”
Step 1. Mix the remaining brewed coffee grounds and cocoa powder
Take a small bowl and add 2 tablespoons (21 grams) of coffee grounds and 1 teaspoon (3 grams) of cocoa powder. Stir the two ingredients until well blended.
- Use caffeinated coffee grounds as the caffeine content can make them darker in color. In addition, caffeine is believed to stimulate hair growth so that it will help if the eyebrows are less dense and grow unevenly.
- Adding cocoa powder helps reduce the intensity of the color produced by the coffee grounds. If you want a lighter color, add more cocoa powder. If you want a darker dye, reduce the amount of cocoa powder.
Step 2. Add the head oil
Once the coffee grounds and cocoa powder are well combined, add 2 tablespoons (26 g) of coconut oil to a bowl. Stir all the ingredients again to get a runny mixture.
You can substitute coconut oil for another oil, such as olive or jojoba oil, if you prefer
Step 3. Add honey
While coconut oil helps produce a soft, liquid pigment for coloring your eyebrows, the dye must also stick to your brows. Drop a small amount of honey into a bowl, and mix it into the coffee mixture to make sure the dye sticks to your brows.
- There is no fixed dose for honey. Just add a little at a time, and check with your fingers to see if it's sticky enough. If it's still too runny, add a little more honey.
- When you're done mixing the dye, you'll get a paste-like consistency.
Step 4. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes
After all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, let stand for 3 to 5 minutes. That way, all the ingredients will be bonded to each other.
Part 2 of 3: Preparing the Eyebrows
Step 1. Wash your face
A clean facial condition is important to ensure that there is no makeup, dirt, or other residue on the skin and brow hairs that could affect the dye. Use regular facial cleanser and water to wash your face, paying close attention to the eyebrows. Dry your face with a clean towel.
- If your skin is very dry and flaky, it's a good idea to exfoliate the brow area with a facial scrub before coloring your eyebrows.
- Be careful not to get the facial cleanser into your eyes. Some cleansers use formulas that are stinging on the eyes.
Step 2. Comb your eyebrows to make them look neat
Before applying coffee dye, make sure your eyebrows are properly shaped. Use a spoolie brush or an eyebrow brush to carefully comb the eyebrows to make them look neat, following the natural shape of the eyebrows.
If you're not satisfied with the shape of your eyebrows, consider asking a professional to straighten them, either using wax, thread, or tweezers before coloring them
Step 3. Remove the irregular eyebrow hair
After brushing your eyebrows, check to see if any hairs are growing irregularly. Remove these hairs with clean tweezers so you don't accidentally apply the dye in unwanted areas.
You should still do this step even if you are just shaping your eyebrows. Stand in front of a mirror and pluck out any irregular eyebrow hairs
Part 3 of 3: Eyebrow Coloring
Step 1. Apply the coffee mixture evenly on the eyebrows
Once your eyebrows are brushed in order, dip an angled brush or eyeliner brush into the coffee mixture. Spread the mixture all over the eyebrows following the desired shape. Apply a second coat to make sure the entire brow is covered in dye.
Do not apply the coffee mixture beyond the brow line. If you're worried you won't get it right, mark the outside of your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil so you know where to color it
Step 2. Clean the smudges
After applying the dye, wet a cotton swab with water. Use a cotton swab to clean any smudges or mistakes you may have made while applying the coffee mixture.
You can also use a damp paper towel to clean up the stain, though it's a little more difficult to do this with the same precision as a cotton swab
Step 3. Allow the mixture to soak into the brows
After applying the coffee mixture evenly on the eyebrows, let it sit for about 20 minutes. The longer it is left on, the darker the eyebrow color will be. Therefore, adjust the timing as needed.
If it's your first time coloring your eyebrows, it's best to be careful and apply for 20 minutes or less. If your eyebrows aren't as dark as you want them to be, you can repeat the process
Step 4. Clean the coffee mixture
After the coffee dye has left for about 20 minutes, take another cotton swab and moisten it with water. Wipe the coffee mixture off your brows using a cotton swab, and make sure that no residue remains.
- Or, you can clean the coffee mixture with a damp washcloth if you prefer. Be careful not to stain the clothes.
- If the brow color isn't as dark as you'd like it to be, repeat all the steps above.
