You can delete previous entries that appear in search fields and forms on websites using the Settings menu in your browser. It's pretty much the same in most browsers. The Safari browser used on iOS or macOS computers doesn't save entries for searches on websites so you don't have to delete anything. Step
Method 1 of 6: Chrome (Desktop Computer)
Step 1. Click the Menu button (⋮) in the Chrome browser, then select "Settings"
The settings menu will open in a new tab.
Step 2. Click the "Show advanced settings" link at the bottom
Additional settings for Chrome will be displayed.
Step 3. Click "Clear Browsing Data"
It's in the "Privacy" section under the "Show advanced settings" link. A new window containing several options will be displayed.
Step 4. Uncheck all options except "Autofill form data"
This option removes everything entered into the form on the website.
If you don't want the sites you've visited to appear in the address bar, check the "Browsing history" option as well
Step 5. Click the " Obliterate menu …" , then select " the beginning of time ".
All previously saved entries will be deleted.
Step 6. Click "Clear browsing data"
All selected items will be removed from Chrome.
Step 7. Delete any of the search entries
If you only want to delete one or two entries, do this manually:
- Click the column containing the entry you want to delete. This will bring up a list of saved entries.
- Use the mouse to highlight the entry you want to delete.
- Press Shift+Del key while the entry is still highlighted to delete it.
Method 2 of 6: Firefox (Desktop Computer)
Step 1. Click the Menu button (☰) in the Firefox browser, then select " History"
The menu will open the recent browsing history.
Step 2. Click "Clear Recent History"
After that, a new window will open.
Step 3. Expand the "Details" section
Several additional options will be displayed.
Step 4. Uncheck all options except "Form & Search History"
By selecting the Form & Search History option, all queries and form entries you have typed while browsing the internet will be deleted.
If you don't want the sites you've visited to appear in the address bar, also check the " Browsing & Search History " box
Step 5. Select "Everything" in the "Time range to clear" menu
By selecting this option, the entire history of search fields and forms will be deleted.
Step 6. Click "Clear Now" to delete some selected items
The search field history will be deleted.
Step 7. Delete any of the search entries
If you only want to clear a few entries, do this manually without deleting all of them:
- Click the column containing the entry you want to delete. This will bring up a list of saved entries.
- Highlight the entry you want to delete. You may have to type a few letters for the entry to appear.
- Press Shift+Del key while the entry is still highlighted to delete it.
Method 3 of 6: Chrome (Android)
Step 1. Tap the Menu button (⋮) in Chrome, then select "Settings"
You may have to scroll down the screen to find it.
Step 2. Tap on “Privacy“
The Privacy menu in the Chrome browser will open.
Step 3. Scroll down the screen, then tap "Clear browsing data"
A list of item types that can be deleted will be displayed.
Step 4. Check the box "Autofill form data"
All entries typed in the search field will be deleted.
You can uncheck other items you don't want to delete, such as browsing history or cached images and files
Step 5. Select "beginning of time" from the menu at the top of the screen
With this option, Chrome will delete all saved entries.
Step 6. Delete all checked items by tapping on “Clear Data“
The entries for the search box will be completely deleted.
Step 7. Delete any of the search entries
If you only want to delete one entry, do this manually:
- Tap the column containing the entry you want to delete. You may have to type a few letters from the search for the entry to appear.
- Press and hold search on the list of suggestions you want to delete.
- Confirm that you really want to delete the entry.
Method 4 of 6: Internet Explorer
Step 1. Click the gear button in the top right corner
If the gear button isn't there, press alt=""Image" and click the Tools menu.
Step 2. Select "Internet Options"
A new window containing Internet Explorer options will open.
Step 3. Click the " Delete " button in the " Browsing history " section
The "Delete Browsing History" window will be displayed.
Step 4. Uncheck all boxes except "Form Data"
By performing this action, the entries that you type in the forms and search fields on the website will be deleted.
If you don't want the sites you've visited to appear in the address bar, check the "History" option as well
Step 5. Click the " Delete " button to delete the selected item
Step 6. Delete one of the search or form entries
If you only want to delete one entry, do this manually without deleting all history:
- Click the column containing the entry you want to delete. If there are many entries, you may have to type the first few letters for the entries to appear.
- Highlight the entry with the mouse or the keyboard.
- Delete the highlighted entry by pressing Shift+Del key.
Method 5 of 6: Microsoft Edge (Windows 10)
Step 1. Tap or click the " button
.. in the upper-right corner of the Edge window.
The Settings sidebar will open.
Step 2. Select the “Choose what to clear” button
The sidebar will show what items will be deleted.
Step 3. Check the box "Form data"
With this option, Edge will delete entries that have been typed in fields on websites.
If you don't want the sites you've visited to appear in the address bar, check the "Browsing History" option as well
Step 4. Tap or click the “Clear” button to delete your selected items
This will delete everything you've ever typed in a form or search field on a website.
Method 6 of 6: Google Search
Step 1. Click or tap the Google Search field
Your most recent searches will be displayed. You may have to type a few letters in order to find the search you want to delete.
Step 2. Delete the desired search
Click the "Remove" button or tap the "X" to the right of the search you want to remove. The entry will be removed from Google search history.
Step 3. Delete all search history
You can delete all past Google searches using the My Activity page:
- Go to myactivity.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- Select "Delete activity by" in the left menu.
- Select "All time" from the "Delete by date" menu.
- Select "Search" from the "All products" menu.
- Tap or click "Delete" to delete all Google search history.
