This wikiHow teaches you various ways to download games from the internet to your computer, phone, or tablet. If you're using Windows or macOS, you can use free apps like Steam to download games in a variety of genres. EA Games games can also be downloaded via Origin. If you use Android, iPhone, or iPad, use the Play Store or App Store to download thousands of games, both free and paid.

Method 1 of 4: Using Steam on PC or Mac
Step 1. Download and install Steam
Follow these steps to download and install Steam.
- Go to https://store.steampowered.com using a web browser.
- Click Install Steam. It's the green button in the top right corner of the web page.
- Click Install Steam. It's a blue button in the middle of the page. This will download the Steam Install file.
- Double-click the Steam Install file in your web browser or "Downloads" folder.
Step 2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download Steam
The Installer program will guide you through the steps for installing Steam. Wait a few minutes while Steam does the update (update) when the installation is complete.
- Click Yes when the message “' do you want to allow the installer to make changes to your system” appears.
- Click Next.
- Select language and click Next.
- Click Install.
- Kik Finish.
Step 3. Open Steam
Steam has a blue icon that resembles a rotating piston. Click the icon in the Windows Start menu, or the Applications folder on a Mac to open this program. Steam will start up automatically once it's finished installing.
Step 4. Click Create an account or Login to an existing account.
If you don't have a Steam account, click Create an account (create an account) and fill in the form to create one. If you already have an account, click Login to an existing account (login to an existing account), and enter a username or email and password to log in.
Step 5. Double-click the Steam icon on the taskbar or dock
This will open the Store in the Steam client.
Step 6. Click Store
This is the first label at the top of the Steam client. This will open the Steam Store.
Step 7. Search for the game
Use the drop down menu below Games (game) to browse games by type, genre or platform.
If you know the name of the game you want to download, you can type it into the search bar in the upper-right corner of the Steam client
Step 8. Click the game title
After finding the desired game on the Steam Store, click on the title of the game to display the information page.
Step 9. Scroll down and click Play Game or Add to Cart.
Steam has many games that are free. To play it, click the green button that says "Play Game" on the game information page to download the game.
If the game has a price, you will need to purchase the game before it can be played. When you do, the game will appear in your Games library
Step 10. Click Library
It's in the second label at the top of the Steam client. This page displays a list of all purchased games.
Step 11. Click the game you want to download
The game information page will appear.
Step 12. Click Install and follow the instructions
Click the blue button that says Install (install) to start the installation process. Follow all on-screen instructions that appear when the game is installed. You need to agree to the terms and conditions of the game.
Method 2 of 4: Using Origin on PC or Mac
Step 1. Download and install Origin Client
Follow these steps to download and install Origin on your PC or Mac.
- Go to https://www.origin.com in a web browser. This is the site for Origin, the online store for Electronic Arts (EA) games.
- Click Download in the menu bar on the left side.
- Click Download under "Windows" or "Mac".
- Double-click the installation file in your web browser or the “Applications” folder.
- If the words “do you want to allow the installer to make changes to your system” appear, click Yes.
Step 2. Follow the instructions to install Origin
Perform the following steps to install Origin.
- Click Install Origin.
- Click the checkbox to indicate that you have read and accepted the game's Terms and Conditions.
- Click Continue.
- Click Yes if the words “do you allow Origin to make changes to your system” appear.
- If you are prompted to restart the system after installing Origin, save everything you did and click Yes to restart the system.
Step 3. Open the Origin client
This icon is an orange circle with dots above and below it. Click the icon in the Windows Start menu, or the Applications folder on a Mac to launch the Origin client.
Origin will open automatically once installed
Step 4. Click Sign In or Create an account.
If you already have an Origin or EA account, click Sign in at the top of the login screen. If you don't have an Origin account, click Create an account.
Step 5. Log in or create an account
If you already have an Origin or EA account, click Sign In, enter your username or email and password, then click Sign In. If you don't have this account yet, click Create an account and fill out the form to create an account. You will be asked to provide your birthday, email address, first and last name, and country of residence. You will also need to create a username and password that will be used to log in.
Step 6. Click Browse Games
This button is in the menu bar on the left. This page will display a list of games. You can use the column on the right to browse the games by popularity, alphabetically, or genre.
If you know the name of the game you want to download, type it into the search bar at the top of the bar on the left
Step 7. Click the game
Once you find the game you want to download, click it to display the game information page.
Step 8. Click Get the Game
This step displays the game purchase options.
Step 9. Scroll down and click Buy Now
It's at the bottom of the page that has a buy option. This button also lists the price of the associated game.
Otherwise you can click Join Basic Today (join Basic members today) or Join Premier Today (join Premier members today) for discounts and free games.
Step 10. Click Buy Now under the edition of the game you want to buy
You can buy the main game or the one bundled with the expansion and its downloadable content (DLC). Click the orange button below the edition you wish to purchase.
Step 11. Click a payment method
The payment method is listed on a label at the top of the Payment Information window. You can pay by credit card, PayPal, EA Wallet, or Alipay.
Step 12. Fill in the purchase information and click Proceed to Review Order
Once you have selected a payment method, fill out the form with all the relevant payment information and click on the orange button that says Proceed to Review Order (continue to review the booking).
Step 13. Click Submit
It's at the bottom of the Review Order page. Here's the page to order and buy your game.
Step 14. Click on My Game Library
It is located on the left side of the Origin Client. This page displays a list of all the games that have been purchased.
Step 15. Click the game you want to download
This step displays the title page of the game.
Step 16. Click Download
Here's the orange button on the game's title page.
Step 17. Select the language and click Next
Use the drop-down menu to select a language, then click Next.
Step 18. Select the game location and click Next
If you want to change the installation location, click Change Location (change location) and select a location. Click Next to continue.
Step 19. Click the checkbox and click Next
This indicates that you have read all the terms and conditions for installing the game. Once the game has finished downloading, you can launch the game by clicking the game icon on the desktop, or in the Windows Start menu, or in the Applications folder on a Mac.
Method 3 of 4: Using Google Play Store on Android
Step 1. Open Google Play Store
This button has a colorful “Play” triangle icon. You can find the Google Play Store on the home screen, or in the app drawer.
Step 2. Tap Games
This is the first label at the top of the Google Play Store.
Step 3. Browse the game
Use the white bar label at the top of the screen to browse the game. To see a list of recommended games, tap for you (for you), Top Charts (popular game) or Editor's Choice (editor's choice). To view a list of family games, tap Family. To browse games by genre, tap Categories (category).
If you know the name of the game you want to download, tap the search bar at the top of the Google Play Store and type in the name of the game. Then, tap on the game title
Step 4. Tap on the game title
A page showing game information will open, along with installation options.
Step 5. Tap Install
It's a green button below the game title on the game information page. Tap the button to install the game. Once installed, you can tap the game in the Apps menu or home screen to launch the game.
If the button includes a price, it means you need to buy the game to be able to download it. To download the game, you first need to specify a payment method, then tap on the price tag and tap on 1-tap buy at the bottom of the screen.
Method 4 of 4: Using Apple Store on iPhone and iPad
Step 1. Open the App Store
This app has a blue icon with the letter "A" in the middle. Tap the icon on the Home screen to open the App Store on iPhone and iPad.
Step 2. Tap Games
This is the second label at the bottom of the App Store. This page displays a list of games that can be browsed.
Step 3. Search for the game
Browse for the games you want to download on the Games page. There is a wide variety of games on the Games page. To see the full list of games in a category, tap See All (see all) in the upper right corner of the category section. To see more categories, scroll down to the bottom of the page.
- A game that says GET (get) can be downloaded for free. Games that have a price tag must be purchased.
- If you know the name of the game you want to download, tap the label that says Search (search) at the bottom of the App Store and type the name of the game in the Search bar.
Step 4. Tap on GET next to the game
This way, the game will be installed on your iPhone or iPad. Once you can tap on the game icon on the home screen to launch the game.
